******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I agree that people shouldn't be setting their hearts on these dates as concrete as it is all part of the process. But whether this is true or not, you can't deny CIG aren't dangling that proverbial carrot in everyone's faces (Donkey pic above says it all). Whether people are entitled or not and whether they understand why there are delays or not, people are still going to be at least a little annoyed because they are still being told "you get to play/try this soon at this date". It's just human nature.

Hope that makes sense, I am in the camp of 'happy to wait' as I have plenty other games to play. But I do understand why people would be getting annoyed regardless of the reason.

Everyone can be upset when the last big update was released in 2015. Sure you could claim that star marine was big but we already got fps combat from patch 2.0. They just polished it and threw in a map.

I agree it is perfectly understandable to be upset, Aside from GrimHex the PU has remained pretty much unchanged since 2015, 6 months after initial 3.0 ETA's we now have those schedules but they are also getting pushed back over and over again, in fact those schedules are getting bigger every-time they publish them with less having been done.

People are beginning to feel like they are being relentlessly teased with it.

Whats worse is how many months after 2.0 it took to fix the bugs/crashes. I expect a playable 3.0 by dec ;P

2015 backer her $2800 in the project and still not getting my knickers in a twist over anything.

Nobody will attempt any other game like this, it's do or die, and people need to accept that when they back it. You don't "pledge " and then pull your money, you give them the money to fund the game and accept that money is gone as soon as you hit the confirm button.

If you don't have the money, or can't afford to flush it, then don't back.

Avoid the market buddy. Go in at the base level and then decide if you want to throw more at the project or not, but always bare in mind it could all be money down the toilet! Interestingly though due to exchange rates and TAX we pay compared to some market sellers there is very little in it at times now.

Between us we have several of most of the ships, OCUKers are in a mixture of orgs but tbh I think we're still all really under the same umbrella. Orgs in the game aren't the same as traditional clans so in my case I don't see the point in owning lots of specialised ships when I know other OCUKers with them who I can crew with if/when the game ever launches :)

So what ships have you guys got? I'm tempted to buy in before the game is released and the prices rise (with the market maybe?)

I'm not ashamed to list the ships I've chosen, I've got:

  • Idris P
  • Reclaimer
  • Carrack
  • BMM
  • Cutlass Black
  • Eclipse
  • Defender
  • Sabre
  • Super Hornet
  • Nox

I've chopped and changed my ships around so many times over the last couple of years, in the end I melted the lot and tied all my store credits up in a 2016 Armada pack, and just upgraded the ships in that.

Although I have forked out for the Eclipse and the Silver Nox this year so far.

tut tut tut..

No connie, you should be ashamed ... :p

Right now...

Freelancer
315P
Aurora LN

And a Hornet F7C tho i don't own it, its a loaner from the Lancer.

Think im about £300-350 in since it was first announced with a Super Honet and Cutlass Black.

I've stopped paying attention to this now unless they drop something big or interesting plus my current rig is struggling with it so there isn't much point in me dabbling in the current version until I upgrade my PC. I will be right there when its released though!

I brought a starter pack in 2014 with the Aurora and that's it for now although the Nox I really want and then will need something yo transport it in.

Watching the latest ATV though and actually feel they have underscaled the solar systems doubling the sizes so they 1/5th scale rather than 1/10th to me seems better. I mean 20 mins in quantum travel isn't that long really. 40 mins I'd be good with and that would mean 30 hours to travel around the moon in question then.

Not sure why they suggested time at 1/10th too? Surely to keep everything in line then planets etc spin 1/10th the speed? Are we getting a game year as 36.5 days and thus a day is 2.4 hours?

Again doubling that to 4.8 hours to me is more the sweet spot.

The ATV otherwise was awesome.

I think I'm about $1800 in the hole, a mix of ships, merch, and subscriber fees. Don't regret any of it. I want this game to be made, and done right. I work in software so know development process are subject to massive flux in both scope and timescales. I've never seen a public development like this, and can't imagine the pressure they must be under given they are working under a microscope.

Seeing as we're willy waving, here are my ships :)

Dragonfly
Super Hornet
Banu Defender
BMM
Freelancer DUR
Starfarer Genesis
Carrack

Nox is the first ship I've bought in almost two years. Rest have been via melting existing ones.

Didn't want to melt any of my auroras though! Probably a daft idea not to though!

Well, I've finally decided my final fleet line up. I've been wanting to get it locked in for fear of the $0 CCUs disappearing on me before I'd used them. I think I'll apply the CCUs tonight, which will leave me with $5 credit spare.

Banu Merchantman
Cutlass Black (fingers crossed the rework is good)
Prospector
Dragonfly

I think The cutlass and prospector should be pretty manageable early game, while the BMM will be my flagship once I've made a name for myself. And dragonfly cos I just want it. The Nox looks pretty cool, but I think the dragonfly will be more useful, if not as fun.

There is still a huge amount of grey-boxing out to do before texturing but i wanted to tackle how to get the lift to the opening in the top, the easy thing to do would be to just have the craft take off vertically from inside to get out, but that would be boring.

After some pondering and trail and error i settled on a two stage sizer-lift system, to reiterate some of it still needs to be fleshed out.

Sorry about the background noise.
