******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

In response to what ships we have, here's my fleet, just bare in mind I've been pledging since mid-2013 so I've been there for every new concept ship release:
*Conny Phoenix + *Andromeda (2nd account)
Orion
Polaris
Terrapin
Super Hornet
Gladiator
Hull C + E
Starfarer + Gemini
Reliant Kore mini hauler
Endeaver master set
Prospector
Freelancer MIS
Cutlas Black
Herald
Dragonfly Yellow + Black
890 Jump
*350 Racer
85X
Retaliator Bomber
Gladiator
Sabre + Comet
Eclipse
Xi'an Khartu-Al
*Mustang Gamma (non-LTI)
Esperia Prowler
Nox + Nox Kue

All LTI unless otherwise stated
* = game package (4)

I've been a "on-off" gamer for 28 years since I was 8, PC online multiplayer gamer for the last 18 years, MMO gamer for 14 years, pretty much only play brand spanking new games - so I'm very used to lots of bugs and long delays. I've been waiting for a huge game like SC since forever.

I first backed when i found out SC was going to be an MMO, it was the 300i commercial that grabbed me when I pledged for the $275 Rear Admiral package (conny) when I thought that was far too expensive at that time.
Almost $11k total spent, consisting of $6900 total ship value, 36 months total subscription, free gifts and about $900 sold.
Plus $1k total crowdfund donations to the org fleet of Idris's and Javelins.
...and counting. Crazy mofo lol
I went to the Germany Gamescom CIG event in 2014 that cost me a lot as I also took my 13y/o nephew for the actual Gamescom show, I also went to the Manchester citizencon 2015 show, and Britizencon 2017.

The most I'd ever spent on a previous game was approx £700 on Everquest 2 over 4 years from 2004-8 when I was jobless and living at my parents house, mostly living off savings and for cheap.

Of course I'd never tell anyone IRL how much I've spent on SC as I'd be thrown into the top mental health rehab clinic!

^^ Hey Niko, it's me your cousin.

Want to go bowling*?

*In space

Think most SCers who have more than the basic package are long time gamers to be fair. Most of PAGAN are over 35 from what I can tell and we've several geriatrics like Worzel who are clearly in their 80s and still going strong.

Bloody hell!

In sat here with my £45 mustang alpha basic game package, and I think I'm barmy for handing that over for a game that I can't play!

if you don't mind me asking, by buying so many ships do you think that your are actually ruining the game for yourself as you already have plenty of ships at your disposal without actually 'earning' them in game by playing it?

I don't see how tbh, its not like having many gun options in FPS ruins those. Just means he has more ships to start tweaking as all of those come stock, which will immediately start being behind the times when time rich people get playing.

I think at 23 im the youngest member possibly. Certainly don't feel 23 around you gents though. More like 57. I have strange knee pain after we game????? I suspect Worzels long talks about fiddlesticks are inducing arthritis?

We all have our hobbies / pass times mate. I actually was getting a load of stick at an old workplace regarding owning a ludicrous gaming rig. With the usual comments of why get that when you can get one for £300 and what a way to throw money away. Needless to say this is coming from a guy who spent £13,000 on a pair of rims for his car. Yet i for some reason never felt the need to insult him or call his use of money stupid as HE wanted them so why the hell should he not get them?

I dislike people.

Earning the next biggest/better ship isn't the only or even the bulk of what this game is about, the ship is just the object for you to be able to play some aspect of the game, and finding the best gear in order to constantly keep upgrading your ships I think will be great fun as well.

This game is an MMO its the most advanced game ever made and with the most feature-rich content ever packed into a game. So I want to do everything it has to offer including just going off doing my own thing exploring around every moon and planet seeing their vast views and sky lines, possibly doing long-haul space expeditions exploring for new star systems, doing loads of missions and fighting the Vanduul either solo, group or fleet/raid, earning and increasing my status with various factions around the galaxy, mining, hauling, racing, upgrading of each component of my most used or favourite ships, obtaining the best character gadgets, armour and weapons. Increasing each of my NPC crews AI experience/abilities with also upgrading their own gear. Simply put: I want to live that futuristic life, the Star Trek fantasy.

So basically, I'm buying these ships now with real money to compensate for the lost time from when I'll be doing IRL things like mainly when I'm at work. But most importantly to help a game developer to really try push the boundaries of game design to create the best game of all time without any of the common restrictions, and to really prove to people how much better gaming on the PC can be compared to the console - that what you pay is what you get.

Well, I've finally decided my final fleet line up. I've been wanting to get it locked in for fear of the $0 CCUs disappearing on me before I'd used them. I think I'll apply the CCUs tonight, which will leave me with $5 credit spare.

Banu Merchantman
Cutlass Black (fingers crossed the rework is good)
Prospector
Dragonfly

I think The cutlass and prospector should be pretty manageable early game, while the BMM will be my flagship once I've made a name for myself. And dragonfly cos I just want it. The Nox looks pretty cool, but I think the dragonfly will be more useful, if not as fun.

Wow, its lucky I actually did this last night!

The redeemer was removed from sale earlier today, so it would have meant no BMM for me :O

I'd have been a sad panda for sure

I can see me accidentally shooting you in the head in Insurgency, Due to arthritic pain obviously ..

Think that's the "Humbug" effect tbh!

Collecting stamps is a hobby. You are collecting I.O.U.'s that may or may not be traded in for stamps of unknown quality at an unknown point in the future. That is a gamble, not a hobby.

Hi All. I've been an avid Elite player for some time now as I love a good space SIM. I started following SC at the beginning but I've lost touch since. Do you guys think this game is ready to pick up yet? I'm desperate to play it but don't like the thought of ruining my experience too soon with a buggy game..... Thanks

There is no game yet. Not even an alpha.

Right now it's far from a complete game, it's essentially split modules for testing various parts that will be pieced together to make the game.

Does that mean it's not fun? Absolutely not, I prefer playing these modules with friends than Elite Dangerous and I backed Elite back in kickstarter. I would suggest if you do back it playing with friends first and ideally hopping onto an SC discord and having a chat with those who know more and firing questions at them. If any any doubt dont' back..

but I love it. Even the test PU (persistent universe) is far more amusing than anything I've done in Elite, crewing a ship with friends is fun and I can't wait to get my hands on 3.0 which expands what we can test.

Right now though it's more of a showcase for technology than a game, a series of mini-games really which are slowly starting to piece together.

Good answer! I was just curious as a good friend asked me about the game and I couldn't give him an answer to be honest

Thanks. I wasn't aware it was still so green and split up. I'll keep going with Elite for now and wait for SC to one day bring a complete gaming experience to the table
