Another snippet from the review:

Der achtkernige Vorgänger in Form des 2700X wird vom 3700X durchweg um 20 bis 30 Prozent übertrumpft.
[...]
In Sachen Leistungsaufnahme gewinnt AMDs 3700X klar das Rennen gegenüber Intels 9900K. Der Achtkerner arbeitet durchweg 10-20 Prozent sparsamer als die Konkurrenz und selbst der 3900X ist oft genügsamer, vor allem in Anwendungen.

Translated:

The 8-core predecessor 2700X is consistently beaten 20-30 percent by the 3700X.
[...]
In regards to power consumption the 3700X clearly wins the race against the 9900k. The 3700X has consistently 10-20 percent less power consumption as the competition and even the 3900X is often less power hungry, especially in applications.

And again.....why do we never learn......? The Intel CPUs are running slower RAM too! 2667 and still smashing 3900/3700 using 3200 RAM.
Pi** poor yet again from the looks of things.

Understand why they use 720p but its still pointless. :p

720p low details, there is CPU testing and then there is taking the ****..

I honestly think the minimum resolution tested should be 1080P.

No one on a desktop games at 720P these days.

I don't give a hoot about how it enables pure CPU power, it's just irrelevant to me (as a gamer) and I suspect most people.

still fair , if your trying to rule out GPU interference .

but 1080p and 1440p is were everyone will look at. all knew at 720p intel would win .

we also know test was done with lower ram timings. now would like to see 3600hz used is both intel and amd, then both pushed to absolute max :D

720P testing is fine but not at the lowest details, the CPU isn't doing anything at low details, with it a dual core has the same performance as an 8 core because anything that would make use of Multithreading is turned off, when you do that an i3 is just as good as an i9, its not a real test of the CPU.

turning off details is an incredible naive way of thinking about CPU game performance testing.

TBH I would like them to test 4K with 2080TI SLI all ULTRA rather than artificially low res/details. I prefer real World testing to arbitrary scenarios but either way
this doesn't look good.

real world, 2080ti in sli. what real world is that ?!

It's the only way to test them properly but I'd include 4K.

4K SLI 2080Ti isn't a real world test either seeing as there's likely more people gaming at 720p than with that setup!

I tested with 1080p and 2080Ti on the benches I ran.

With maximum details?

They are both running the stock speed RAM runs at when plug and play without any profiles on. Intel is 2667, Ryzen 3 is 3200. That is all.

720P resolution.

Now lets see the 3440x1440P results :)
Significant improvement over the R7 2700X in every game they tested, but also significantly behind the i8-8700K and i9-9900K. These are all at 720p though so the gaps will be very much smaller at realistic resolutions. Also interesting to note that even at 720p, the 12-core is barely beating the R7 3700X in gaming. Definitely reinforces my gut feeling to go for the R7 3700X.

The chips are killing it in productivity.

My world !!! ;)

yeah which 99% of gamers dont live in :p get back to you're cupboard!

seriously though single card gpu at 1080P with the min settings it takes, like a reverse gpu test. the 720p stuff while it does show something its pointless outside of bragging and one upping the competition.
