*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I managed to get the following as a new customer, not sure if its classed as a good deal or not but it didn't seem too bad:

Sky+HD Original Bundle
Sky Fibre Unlimited
Sky Talk Pay as you go

Free install/activation

£27 P/M + £105 cashback (potentially)

Could I ask where this deal was from? Sky direct? I am now considering the following deal

Sky +HD Family Bundle
£24.12 a month with £115.50 cashback + £25 sky reward

But I can change internet provider in another 3 months so wondering about waiting and getting fibre with sky too...... can't decide.

Im not clued up on how this NowTV works.

But basically, I want (NEED) to watch the new series of Game of Thrones in April and I don't have Sky.

Does the Sky Atlantic on NowTV show programs and have the same schedule as the Sky variant? Or is it like a catch up service on NowTV?

Yes NOW TV does this, you can either watch them live (with adverts) like sky. Or catch up without adverts They don't have all of the channels that Sky has but they have the key ones Atlantic/Fox/Sky One/ Discovery and a few more. Quality I believe is 720p if you have the black box from Now.

Price is 8.99 month for the entertainment channels but it is very easy to find voucher codes of ebay which are around 8.99 for 3 months and are easily applied against your account.

My internet is around 15mb and I can have anything up to 3 people watching different shows with no issue - though I use Gargoyle firmware in the router which does a good job on controlling congestion :)

The other biggie is no fixed subscription so you decide on a month to month basis if it is for you. Sports passes are also easily obtained and applied to your account

Lots of supported devices - Chromecasts are supported/Android and Iphones as well as the Now TV boxes. But you are limited to 4 devices being registered to your NowTV account

Thinking about switching away from Sky HD with full ent and HD pack, no movies or sport, 40mb fibre, line rental with no calls, it's £83.90.

Was looking at BT Total Entertainment + Unlimited Infinity 1, what's the box like, I really like sky's interface, as long as it's close to sky and lots better than virgin i'd be happy as the savings are good, I could even get multiroom for £5 and still only £46 a month.

Do quite fancy sky q and a q mini but it will be more if anything.

Think I might try and get a reduction from sky otherwise switch to BT, plus about £250 cashback with BT.

I've got both Sky HD and BT Youview TV. The box is really small bout 2/3 size of a sky box. I pay extra £5 for two boxes. The Sky GUI is better. Sometimes the BT one can be a bit clunky but its clear and usable. A lot of the channels above Freeview are internet channels and streamed via Infinity. I have cat 5 from my router to my TV so I have no probs with the visuals. There is a small delay of about 3-4 seconds black screen before the channel displays via Infinity. Good thing is you can record two Freeview channels and internet channel at same time. Its a bit like a Freeview box with a few extra bells and whistles. Of course you could pay the little extra and get the UHD box for the Footy in UHD.

as mentioned earlier in the thread I dumped sky this year and as I already had BT infinity 2 and needed a freeview box to replace the sky+, BT entertainment with 4k footy at £13 a month seemed a steal.

Particularly so as a 12 month contract at £13 a month came with the Humax 2000 4k 1TB freeview box (easily £150 worth of hardware).

The 4K football is amazing but has one massive problem for me ..... I am a Newcastle fan :(

Otherwise much the same as Sky I watch nothing , all the channels are the usual junk and I am far more likely to be watching catchup, Netflix or Amazon .

The wife likes it though.

The box and viewing card will automatically revert to a 'free sat from Sky' service when your sub ends. Just in case though, you WON'T be able to pause or record without a Sky+ sub which is £10 per month.

Anyone got any advice for returning customers getting a decent deal to retain?

My 12 month contract has come to an end and my bill is going to double. I called Sky who have only offered 10% off for 9 months which is a bit weak.

Cancel it, wait until you have been disconnected then wait for the rejoin being letters to come pouring through your letter box. You'll get something decent, but show no loyalty as Sky couldn't give a rat's rear about keeping you. :)

keep checking your online account, you can still access it even though you cancel. Eventually after about 4-8 weeks you get an offer to come back (dont forget you can still watch Sky freeview channels just not record). Mine was massive and I ended up getting the top £80 odd package for £28 per month for 12 months plus £100 cashback so effectively 3 and a bit months free.

I've got 2 months to run on my contract, rang Sky to cancel and they said I can't leave early, even if I pay the remainder of my contract? wtf?

If you cancel with Sky can you still use the box for freeview?

We have Roku's in the bedroom and the TV has Netflix/Prime/Plex. I guess I'd get a Roku for the living room for NowTV

Only thing that has put me off is F1 as I'm on the legacy contract that gives me F1 with the HD pack. If I leave I'll forever have to take on all the sports to watch F1

Or something I haven't really looked into is buying the passes for NowTV. That might work out cheaper.

I'm paying £30 for Variety and £11.25 for HD.

Apologies if this has been answered before. My Sky contract expires on 14 April and I believe I have to give 31 days notice. Do I need to phone up bang on the 31 days in order to avoid an entire month's extra bill, or do they start charging you on a daily basis if I cancel say 31 days before the 20th of April?
