*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Guys need some advice as I feel I'm paying to much , thanks .

I have Sky fibre and all Tv packages , my phone and fibre are contracted in until December but paying £29.24 for fibre , line rental , Skytalk anytime extra and voice mail. I'm happy with this.

I'm not so happy with my tv package bill and will be out of contract end of next month .

1. Variety with sports and movies £63.81
2. Sky multi room £9.01
3.Sky+HD Pack £11.25

So £84.07 a month on tv subscriptions , will I be able to negotiate a significant discount or be in a strong position to get Sky Q for the same money ?

Your advice please.

Sky Q will probably be the same price, think it's £88 for the full package (Sky, Sports, Movies, Second Q box)

I pay £69 for everything including HD and multi room instead of £88.50 due to discount I managed to keep when renewing last December. If I switch to Sky Q once the non Sky BB customers are able to my bill will just be without discounts so no great shakes. Just an overpriced one off cost to pay for

Gents,

I currently have Sky Family+Movies HD, Sky Fibre and Sky Talk Line Rental at £90 a month!

When you get all these amazing offers, do you phone up threaten to leave and they give you a good deal, I have been out of contract for 5months or do you actually have to leave and live with no internet for a while?

Thanks.

I did my cancellation on live chat then had the 50% off and £100 account credit offered the day after on live chat again

Then called to get fibre for £10 a month and another £20 credit

Then realised they'd left sky go plus on my account in error and got another £60 credit so £180 in total and 50% off main viewing package

just cancelled myself, poor lass tried everything she could, but got no change, I can't keep paying for this when I'm working all the time.

I cancelled in December, they offered me 50% off however no credit. I don't know if it's a new thing or not. I've just joined up again with their 'come back to Sky' campaign and they offered 60% off and £100 credit.

We just got a Humax box, and have Netflix and NowTV for the movies. Not missing Sky at all, especially not the cost.

I will cancel mine in next few days...
Moving house....
We move, will get wife to get a new deal in her name and possibly a sky q.
Will see how it goes .
Won't tell them we will come back ;)

Thinking about quitting myself. I figured out I can get Freesat HD boxes in 2 rooms, Netflix, Amazin Prime and the same broadband/calls for like £50 a month less.

Any advice from those that left? Do you miss Sky?

The only thing we missed was the ability to pause live TV, and record. Now we have a Humax box on one TV and a usb external hard drive on the other that problem is solved.

Yeh that's what I would miss but we'll probably grab 2 Humax DVR boxes which will allow the same on FreeSat. I calculated that my fees would go from £130 with Sky to around £50 with BT (Broadband, calls, BT sport), Netflix and Amazon Prime. There is some initial outlay ofcourse but I get my money back after like 4 months.

Cancelled Sky yesterday

Just cancelled, no effort to keep me at all and no reason asked!

How do you get offers? In your account under offers or will they email / call me?

They usually call after a couple of weeks, but with SkyQ launched they have a new product that will probably encourage new customers so won't have any good offers on.

Also do not take anything they offer you over the phone at their word:

And I'm back to being a Sky customer, retentions called and placed me back on the same package I was on at the same price on offer for 10 months with zero contract (it's a shame, wanted a long contract as it saves me calling each year). NowTV would have been a cheaper option but £15/mo is not a lot for the convenience.

This is what I renewed with last year, agreed on phone and wrote down everything that was discussed. When I came to cancel again (10 month deal over) I was told I was in a 12 month contract and unable to cancel. When I read back my notes and asked for a copy of the call to be played I had to be transferred to another customer agent who "took my word for it as I had been a long term customer of 3 years" and agreed to cancel the contract.

So either cancellations lied about the 12 month contract in an effort to keep me on board at full price for 2 months, or cancellations lied about not being under contract hoping I'd forget about it and let someone else deal with the issue later.

Had quite a few offers come through the post after 2/3 months and then again 4/5 months, getting better each time.

Was watching no TV so still an unnecessary expense.

Cancelled my Sky TV since we watch so little these days. Netflix + nowTV will be our main sauce of tv. Means we can cancel the TV license and save that as well.

I just got a letter through post - £25 complete bundle.

The Complete Bundle
All the benefits of The Family Bundle, plus 11 movie channels, 7 sports channels and over 300 Sky Box Sets - all in stunning HD

I cancelled less than 12 months ago so it's nice to get such a good offer. I am sorely tempted as the Freesat built in to the Sony TV is awful as it has no decent guide and it's clunky.

My complete bundle @£25 finished yesterday and the TV was cut off yesterday. I logged in again today offering me the same £25 complete bundle or 50% on any other bundle. Needless to say I activated the complete bundle again, very happy.

Im not clued up on how this NowTV works.

But basically, I want (NEED) to watch the new series of Game of Thrones in April and I don't have Sky.

Does the Sky Atlantic on NowTV show programs and have the same schedule as the Sky variant? Or is it like a catch up service on NowTV?

Generally pretty good, occasionally it sparks out, but that mainly affects massive live sport games.

Probably a free trial so you can see yourself.
