Probably to save money and take load off the staff?
Maybe.
Before you had to call to cancel packages but you could add packages on-line.

All my offers ran out, £76.80 per month and its just too expensive as I hardly watch much and the wife only really watched the soaps. They offered to reduce it to £40 per month but it would tie me into a new 12 month contract so I've told them to cancel it all...
Need to look at a freeview recorder and maybe move to plusnet unless they come back with an amazing contract free offer...

edit
Spoke to them online and was offered 60% off and £70 credit
60% off on Variety bundle for 12 months and a credit of £70. Sky Fibre Half price £10 with a phone line rental £17.40 a month for 12 months.
60% off on Variety bundle would cost £12 + Multiscreen subscription £11.25 + Sky Fibre Half price £10 with a phone line rental £17.40 = £50.65 a month for 12 months.
edit:
pushed them a little further and now agreed to 60% off TV, with £100 credit. Total £50.65 valid for 12 months. And this is without entering a new contract so I can cancel at any point.
I had the 60% offer and £100 credit after it being switched off for about a month.
i got the 60% and £100 credit the day it was switched off.
Anyone know if these discounts can be applied whilst upgrading to Sky Q?
