4 cards
Hi Kaap, congrats on your cards, just wondering why you didn't wait for custom cards? The stock cooler on these is supposed to be bad and only has 6 pin connector?
Same card ordered as Stulid and looking forward to testing it on Friday. Bit jealous of you guys with yours already :(
And, the same question to you actually. Why not wait until a custom board comes up? I know it's for a review, but, you waited for a custom 1080. Isn't only fair you wait for a custom 480 as well?

It's here!

Am i the only forum member who went for the XFX 4GB :P

Don't know about on your boxes, but the 4GB is just a sticker on the box, so maybe everyone got the same card.

Quick observations, coming from a HIS 7950 boost...

It is roughly 50% quicker across firestrike, valley, heaven and old tomb raider.

This is at 1200p, with 16.6.2 drivers on both.

Hotter at load (80C, 7950 was 60C).
Quieter at load, although 7950 was pretty quiet anyway.

Accounting for inflation it costs about what I paid for the 7950 new I think.

All in all not so bad, I usually wait until I can get 100% improvement for same money, but got the itch.

Now to have a go with this WattMan thing.

Just found the 4GB XFX edition for £173.99... decisions decisions! £25 for an extra 4gb? Is it worth it at 1080p, thinking of 12 months down the line too?

Yes, it definitely is. As has been said , higher resolution textures cost virtually nothing in terms of performance and can make quite a difference to the visuals.

Also, the 8GB card uses faster memory and has slightly more memory bandwidth.

With 50% power limit I can run a 6% overclock of 1340 OK

I tried 9% (1380) but got a crash.

Had set fan to max rpm of 4500. When it gets up to that it sounds like a hair-dryer.

Temp was 88C.

This is just running the tomb raider bench for now.

Not amazing.
