Just in the evening it's unusable.

Well it was Saturday evening onwards that was bad for me (speedtests posted before) that said it still wasn't just as bad as yours. I'll not be able to test it for the next couple of days in the evening but from Wednesday on I'll keep checking.

If it carries on I will just email Ian, he seems to listen and get things done, unlike trying to talk to some of the folk that work for BT.

Just found out regarding the upgrade i posted about above, As i was/am still on the 80/20 trial from March with ADSL24, I dont even need to pay the £15 upgrade fee, so that will be refunded to me tomorrow. :)

Scratch that, I've just had a reply to my ticket, I've now been refunded.

This is why i'd rather go with ADSL24 than the likes of BT. :)

lol, okay then you go with ADSL24 with packages like this:

Fibre 500 Ultra | 80Mb DOWN | 20 Mb UP | Peak Usage 500 GB | Off peak usage Unlimited | £65.90

Pick the package that no one will actually use why dont you. ;)

No thanks i'll go with the 30 Ultra service, unlimited off peak 8pm - 8am and all weekend, 100% no throttling/shaping etc. Competent UK support and a network that hasn't had any issues unlike BT recently. :)

This was Saturday, which is off peak, when everyone is downloading. (Yes thats me downloading)

Perfect for me as i'm at work or out during the day and by the time i get to the PC is 8ish anyway...

Reading above not for everyone it seems. ;)

Same could probably said for ADSL24. All ISPs have their problems. I remember my mate telling me his Virgin service was godlike and you've seen all the complaints in that thread I'm guessing...

Just got a text from BT that the Infinity Home Hub 3 is coming on Wednesday. Is this any different from the HH3 I have now? Or is it another HH3...?

Engineer is not due until Friday to install though.

Never! :p

Well some ISP's have more problems than others i'm sure, but ones things for sure, since May last year mine has been faultless, and i've had to deal with Bt in the past, which has put me off. I'm very happy where i am.

Maybe just a replacement of the original batch of HH3s which tended to go *phut* like mine did.

This thread is rather long! Apologies if my question has already been covered in the previous 6194 replies :).

So I’ve ordered BT Infinity for Business with 1 static IP. Sadly it’s not for my home as my exchange hasn’t been done let alone my cabinet, but it’s for somewhere else that I’m responsible for.

BT have emailed me:
  • Network login name *******@hg52.btclick.com
  • Network login password ********
  • Static IP 217.41.15.***
  • Subnet mask 255.255.255.254 (well duh!)

They’ll be sending a BT Business Hub 3 in the post before the engineer arrives for installation, and he’ll bring the modem with him. But obviously the minute the engineer leaves the BT Business Hub 3 will go in the bin :p and I’ll be connecting the modem to our load-balancing router... and herein lies my question!

So the settings for my router, PPPoE with the supplied Network login name and Network login password I assume?
And is it DHCP (the exchange DHCP’ing me my static IP based on the Network login name and password I’m connecting with), or is it manually configured Static IP? If it’s manually configured Static, what’s the Gateway IP Address I should use? BT have only emailed me the Static IP and Subnet mask.

I’m assuming I should use DHCP (and the exchange will DHCP me my static IP based on the Network login name and password I’m connecting with), because for manually configured Static IP I’d need to know the Gateway IP and BT haven't included it in the emails (I'd guess that it'll be 217.41.15.1 though)... but BT aren't planning on me using my own router anyways!

tl;dr "Settings for using own router"

my date for the box is now 30 June 2012. somehow I think BT will push that date back again..

When did it change to 30th of June?

Mine was originally December 31st 2011, then March 31st 2012, then they updated the DB wrong and a load of people including me got very excited to finally get connected only for them to correct it and change my date to 30th of June. It's been that date now since about the 20th of March.

I'm keeping everything crossed but trying not to get my hopes up. A jump from 5mb to 57mb is going to be noticeable.

30th June is just a standard holding date, Im sitting on the same and expect it to move forward about 3 months anytime even though my cab is in place.
It means next to nothing from what ive gathered, you could still be waiting in December

Im going form 3 to 69 so i think they are running a new fibre to the area as we are so far from the exchange which will be held up loads along the way

Hey V_R, I just put an order in for the 30 ultra package too, though not sure as to why my Requested date is for 20th Jun.
Thought I read it takes upto 48hrs to be upgraded :/ maybe some work needs doing at my exchange.

Anyways well worth the extra £2 p/m :D
