**ATI RADEON 7800 SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!!**

Just hoping mine actually comes tomorrow. I received an email saying it has been shipped at around 3:30 ish, but my account still says 'Printed in warehouse' :S

EDIT: Well I assume it must be on it's way as the tracking info is working, must just not have been updated on the system! Can't wait to get my hands on it :D

Yup the 7850/70's are super efficient. Just a shame the 7870 is prices so much higher than the 50. £90 more than a 50 is just too much. Had they been £250 I'd have snapped one up.

As it is my 50 will suffice. Hoping I can get 1GHz+ core out of it.

It seems the HD7870 when highly overclocked can trade blows with an HD7970 running at stock speeds at 1920X1080 while consuming less power too:

Hopefully, when the GTX670 and GTX670TI are released,AMD will release an HD7890 model with higher stock clockspeeds.

See this is when the 7000 series starts to make sense. It appears that there is huge performance potential with the GCN architecture and hopefully as the 28nm process matures AMD will see fit to quickly release a refresh generation. A new card with the core count around 1536, efficiency of the 7870, higher stock clocks and transistor density closer to the GTX 680 for £300 would make for one hell of a card.

Card in, and it's utterly silent :D

I was a bit scared at first, put it in and one of the fans was clicking  , after a quick look it turned out that the fan power cable was slightly raised and was just catching the fan, pushed it down with my thumb and now it's perfect. *phew!*

Just installing drivers, benchies to follow ^_^

Don't forget to update your sig. :)

Are you overclocking it straight away?

Let us know how it goes and benchmarks if you can....I'm torn between this and the 7870....

OK, just run a Heaven 2.5 at stock, first observation, the card is UTTERLY SILENT, even running Heaven the fan 'noise' does not change from idle... I just can't hear it at all. <3

Running Heaven 2.5 @ settings from the thread it nets a 1135, which puts is squarely in 6970 territory.

That's running completely stock, with the rig in the sig, 12.4 beta drivers.

More to come, but now I need to go get some food :D

i get 960 points with a 5870,cpu @4.5ghz though if that has anything to do with it,still good score though
