Dis gona be gud.

Naysayers must be scouring the web looking for something to fit their narrative right now :D

Edit: Had a quick flick through the video. Yep, definitely another case of people getting sucked in by marketing where they said 10GB was not enough. How many times before people learn? I do not believe it until I see it. They said Watch Dogs Legion needed 11GB's also, then changed it later on :p

:D

More content below so people can pick away and choose little snip bits to fit their narrative :D

All in all, 16GB VRAM required my ass....... :p

Does seem like "smoothness" might be ever so slightly better with 11GB VRAM over 10GB with literally "everything" maxed @4k and no FSR but:

1. are people really not going to use FSR to get extra FPS? seems pretty decent in this so no reason not to use it unless of course certain people say oh you can't use fsr despite said people crowning it as the next best thing since sliced bread :p
2. Are most people really going to max literally everything in reality? Know for a fact the naysayers for ray tracing will probably turn it off anyway
3. game has issues which will probably get ironed out and fix a few of the issues

Looking forward to some good comparisons of the HD texture pack too.

Such a shame no DLSS in this either as when watching footage, can already see all the artefacts with TAA (which are enhanced further when using FSR) :(

Yeah. DLSS would have been good.

Oh well, time to sell your 3080 then? 10GB clearly is not enough. I mean one must run the game maximum settings otherwise it does not count, so basically this game is unplayable with a 3080 :p

You could also do what I do as per Grims recommendation and download some VRAM

Nah have thrown it in the bin, 10gb is just ******* useless, no one would want it!

Will probably pick it up when it's cheaper tbf as do enjoy the FC games but yeah they're not exactly great games.
I do not buy Ubisoft games if I can help it (ever since they made uplay as I like my games on steam without a million launchers). Was considering doing the Ubisoft pass thing for a month for this as I do like Giancarlo Esposito, but I doubt I will based on the reviews. Might play it sometime in the future also if I borrow it from a mate or something.

Yeah we'll see what it is like once proper comparisons etc. comes out, as it is right now, the biggest problem nvidia will have is to do with their driver overhead issue and not vram from the look of it.

Either way, if the hd texture pack does indeed "need" 11+GB of vram, hopefully it actually has a greater graphical difference/improvement than previous HD texture packs:

That could be said for all Texture packs addon / upgrades, Mod`s usually do a better job.

Yup too copy and paste/generic nowadays.

LAst one that genuinely stood out for me was the division.

Assassins creed origins was good too but the ones after are meh and same game again but different skin.

True that, there hasn't been one "HD" texture pack, which has made me go "wow". Fallout 4 is probably the biggest difference but as said, you can get superior ones from nexus mods.

I was going to read this because of how much effort you put in and then make a joke about writing a dissertation with chapters for a response but i literally don't have the time. However for the part i did read

We both get a kick out debating one another, otherwise we wouldn't do it.

I don't know what you mean :D

I have to agree on Assassin's Creed. Origins was good. But Valhalla is the poorest out of the three recent titles. Generic average open world game. Fun don't get me wrong. But does nothing out of the absolute plain ordinary.

Loved Valhalla compared to all before except for Black Flag which is my favourite. I got 270 hours in Valhalla which is pretty much more than any other single player based game I have played. That's with the two paid dlcs fully completed. It's usually the setting that gets me in these games. Loved the pirate theme and obviously the viking one for Valhalla.

Same, completed Valhalla and loved vikings which probably helped. I will grab the DLC soon but have a few other games to test while prices come down. I found Odyssey too much after completing Valhalla but disagree its way better as I cannot see why its 'way better'. Will revisit it as Origins (bought that as it was low price) so plenty of AC to absorb.

I havent got anything earlier than Unity but I have heard BF is lots of people's favourite.

Watch from 16mins and 30 secs, seems the 3080 is not loading all the textures in due to the vram limit. So maybe 10GB is not enough on this game. OR the game needs checking why it's not using the full 10GB of VRAM, maybe a bug or an AMD special feature ? Well time for popcorn on this one.

Not loading all the textures is cheating.

Yes, there's a few videos of 3080 users at 4K maximum settings on YouTube and their textures are all really low resolution.

The funny thing is, they don't even realise that they are playing with such low quality textures all over the screen. :D

This is encoded at 4K quality.

Yeah that's quite bad lmao

its doing the same thing as well - in HZD the game would not load high res textures when it ran out of vram on the 3080, same thing happens in far cry 6

That was disproven many times by peoples footage recorded on here as well as patches to the game, just look at the patch notes to see how many references there are to vram/texture issues:

https://horizon.fandom.com/wiki/Horizon_Zero_Dawn_updates

The only link people had to show was some guy of amd reddit who took the screenshot on his 5700xt with an older version of the game and then a screenshot with the newer updated/patched version on a 6800xt iirc
