VRAM min spec required yup... :p At least it will allow the 4k settings and they must know it is playable at that for the card to list it.

We have to wait and see what the deal is with this game when it comes it and even if it's worth playing. Sadly looking like VRAM limits are now being raised for 4K on some games now out of the box.

It's all part of Nvidia's and AMDs games mate the planned obsolescence at work.

Oh I thought we were told that's just where games are going as they are next gen gfx and look so much better than other games - Crysis levels of graphical upgrade apparently. That must be 3 games out of the 100's at 4k that oddly need massive VRAM amounts and all for only 60 fps too.

One clapping like a seal; like it's a good thing! :edit: make that two.

16GB for 720p and ................................................24GB for 1440p 30 FPS!!!

I truly wonder how much of that v(RAM) requirement is actually needed and how much is due to poor optimization/tech.

I remember when the guy made a whole chess game run on a few bytes.. the days when devs had to make sure the games fit on regular media are long gone. Optimisation is a lost art.

Something no one will really ever understand unless they work in the development industry themselves, optimisation is always the last thing to get looked at, if ever..... I would say out of the applications I have been brought onto, probably 95% of them have not been optimised in the slightest, literally been losing thousands every month because they are throwing top of the line specced out Vms/nodes at their apps when there has been simply no need to have such overkill hardware, as usual, a mix of developers just being lazy & not caring for this and companies with too much money so they don't really care that much, although with inflation, recession, more companies are looking at things like this now.

Hopefully all devs can now put the programme into CHatGPT for programming optimisation. FC6 4k HD texture pack on 8GB cards. ;)

Myself and the team have been using that a fair bit this week for work, it really is very good at finding issues and being able to provide code for you but it doesn't know best practices nor can it replace "experience".

Maybe it can teach certain people about value and the term bang per buck though ;)

a lot of getting the right output is dependent on asking the question in the correct way. ChatGPT does seem to give all the caveats also in an answer when a question/hypothesis isn't clear or ambiguos - which helps in reframing the question to get a better result.

Really is impressive - cant wait to see the funny things people think up to use it for - worrying though for those in jobs it can do easily. Experience - I think it could learn that very quickly.

Was trying to touch on this the other day with the twitter opinion poll, where I questioned the question and was gonna suggest using chatGPT around a VRAM question for games - specifying fact rather than opinion. But seems it was lost on those withoput a scientific/engineering background around asking the right question or critiquing hypotheses. Can't help stupid.

The topic is not about one specific game. Anyways, does the game somewhere say that it needs 16gb?

Wasn't godfall that supposedly needed 12 for 4k and it turned to be working fine with 6?

Problem with godfall wasn't even vram, it ran like **** on every gpu, even amds own gpus once RT was turned on:

Witness the choke....

Pretty sure the game originally didnt come with a pack. Seeing as though FC6 released with terrible textures it was more of a fix than a feature I think, seeing as it came out after reviewers slated the 1990's textures.

I can't recall but I think it did come on launch, problem was the textures rendering/loading was completely broken on all systems including consoles hence why ubis pr footage also had low res. croco etc. A couple swore it was 100% because not enough vram then it got fixed by ubi :D

Oh yeah definitely asking in the right way helps a ton or breaking the question down, problem is when its a complex setup and you can't just copy and paste a few lines of code to get to the bottom of an issue or the best way forward i.e. when the code is hundreds or even thousands of lines (using different languages and services etc.) across multiple folders or repos all interlinking. This is where a future update with the ability to be able to add the whole repo of code will change the game though, definitely going to affect the industry big time, interviewers in the future "do you know how to use chatgpt?" - "Yes" - "you're hired!"

Drop settings one notch? Not allowed to do that in these parts. A GPU either runs a game maximum settings or does not run it at all!

According to a few in here anyway
It's not ok to drop the texture setting or use dlss/fsr but it's ok to turn off RT since it makes no difference though
