I have given up trying to get the CPU working.
Had no joy getting the PC to boot so its going to sit in a draw somewhere for the rest of its life.
Why not send it back to the seller as faulty?
I have no way of confirming if the processor is faulty or if my board just doesn't support the processor
Your board (Asus P6X58D-E) works with the Xeon's, I have used one in the past with an X5680 - the CPU is faulty.
Any here crossflashed an ASUS P6T with ASUS P6T WS PRO BIOS to remove the turbo multiplier throttling?
Saw this but not sure if it works with the P6T: http://linas.16mb.com/asus-p6t-deluxe-crossflash-to-asus-p6t-ws-pro/
Aiming for 4.4GHz with a X5650 (22 x 200) however the P6T doesn't lock the turbo multiplier so it would drop to 20 x 200.
Yup, me, but on a P6T Deluxe. I used that exact guide and it worked perfectly and now gets the full multiplier for my x5650. I couldn't really get mine to 4.4ghz stable at a voltage I was comfortable with though, so left it at 4.2ghz, but have managed to get my new 8GB Corsair 2400mhz DIMMS up and running over 2200mhz and it's made a nice boost to overall performance
Yes, but with the P6T Deluxe V2. It's not going to help though because you're not going to be able to set the multiplier to 22x without it boosting to 23x on 1-2 cores, and 4.6 GHz stable is tough. That's why I bought an X5675 in the end.Any here crossflashed an ASUS P6T with ASUS P6T WS PRO BIOS to remove the turbo multiplier throttling?

The guide mentions firewire not working. Did you experience this and noticed any other issues?
If this works I'll most likely just buy a cheap X5650 instead of the X5670. I'm only after the 22 multiplier.

That's exactly my experience, firewire didn't work, but think I just disabled it in BIOS or windows (or both). Other than that, no other discernible difference, other than the multi doesn't boost up to 22 for a split second before dropping to 20 lol.
From my own testing, I've struggled with the base clock boost, I run 22x191 at 1.36vcore. I have had the system to 4.8ghz, but that was at nearly 1.5vcore! I did a few bench runs and it didn't fall over, but don't think it would have been IBT or Prime stable! I think my chip (x5650) is probably a bit of a dud.
23x. Turbo is 25-26x. So basically on most boards you can hit 4.6 GHz no problem. I run at 200x22 (4.4 GHz) with 1600 MHz RAM since I can't get the RAM stable above that. My X5650 can run my RAM at 1866 MHz but it can't go above 4.1 GHz all cores in that configuration (186x22), so the X5675 wins. Thanks I didn't think of that.
X5675 what's the multiplier without turbo? 23x?

Note that with the X5650 you can access the 22x multiplier without it boosting to 23x on these Asus boards, but only if you disable pretty much all power saving options. This has a pretty significant effect on power usage, especially when idle, although these setups are pretty power hungry to begin with.
I always thought that it didn't really matter which of the x56** CPU's you use as they all max out at similar clock speeds which is more individual chip dependent rather than which has the higher multiplier? I was tempted to get the x5690 when I saw one at 'reasonable' money (circa £90), but was advised not to as it may not clock any higher than my x5650... potentially even worse!
As for BCLK 186x22 and RAM, I have my x5650 running 188x22 at the moment and my RAM running at over 2200mhz (x4 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum Pro DIMMS).

I am also crossflashed to WS Pro, it doesn't open up that extra multiplier. All it does is stop TDP throttling.Easy mate, just crossflash the WS Pro latest BIOS on, you lose firewire... but who uses that anyway? lol
@DragonQ
Can you please elaborate on this further? Do you mean the X5675 has the stronger IMC since it can go above 186x22 with RAM at 1866 MHz?
