1366 X58 Xeon 5650

Bah, didn't think about keeping ram speed in check.. oh well my 5650 has already been sent, what is the actual max multiplier on those? google says 21x and some are saying 22x

If it's no good i guess i can always return it.

21 and 22x are turbo multipliers. I cant select 21 and selecting 22 results in downclocking for some reason so 20 is my max multiplier on my 5650.

My 5670 has just turned up. Sitting stable at 22x200 = 4.4GHz @ 1.325v

I'd be really interested in your bios settings mate with your CPU at 4.4.

Care to share them with me? I'm not sure what mobo your using but it would still be a good starting guide.

Any info would be a help.

For example:

Max Multiplier - 18x
CPU Ratio Setting - 18
BCLK - 200
PCIE - 100
DRAM - DDR3-1603
UCLK - 3208
CPU Voltage - 1.325
QPI\DRAM Core Voltage - 1.35
DRAM Bus Voltage - Auto (1.65)

So 4ghz is the max i could get while keeping same ram speed, maybe i should replace it for a 5660 then?.. Probably should've just paid more in the first place for a higher chip, but the cost is quite a bit more though.

No probs, motherboard is an Asus P6T 1408 Bios

CPU 5670 @ 4.4GHz
Multiplier - 22x
BCLK - 200
DRAM - DDR3-1203 (my RAM is only 1333)
UCLK - 2406
CPU Voltage - 1.35 (had to up it)
CPU PLL Voltage - 1.96
QPI\DRAM Core Voltage - 1.36250
DRAM Bus Voltage - 1.6

On an hours test with OCCT and Prime, the hottest core got to 78c with the average being 74c. I'm using some rubbish TIM at the moment so I might be able to improve it.

Almost £130.. probably not the cheapest i could get one if i waited but it's not too bad, still much cheaper than upgrading everything.

Not spending any more on this system now except for a new gpu.

You've got an immensely solid CPU there man.

Serious, they're probably better and more valid now than they were when they released. There's far more software out there now that will make use of those cores, and strong cores they are too.

Really enjoying seeing you guys overclock :)

Can't really ignore it for the price, especially when it's not far behind the newest chips and a lot cheaper.
