2008 British Grand Prix - Race 9/17

How about the other 6 and at least the other 1 in almost the same place..

The fact that his car spun when he was going in a straight line should tell you just how difficult the car was handling.

Given that it was handling very badly, it doesnt surprise me that he went off in other areas of the track.

I still say that his series of spins was not purely down to his own doing. A lot of it would be down to the set-up of the car.

Massa was off line though. If he was on line he would have gone through the tyre tracks the other cars had made and avoided the aqua planing.

Recall Martin Brundle even commenting on how poor Massas car was accelerating out of the last corner. Even he was suprised at how twitchy the Ferrari was... Brundle registered that Massa was applying very little throttle if any at all. when coming out of the last corner, yet the car was just itching to get out of shape... signs which points out to a poorly configured/balanced car...

Even the commentators made the comment that he was driving it too hard for the conditions when he had that spin.

Sorry wrong. Brundle. made the opposite comment, saying that Massa was not applying much throttle yet the car was very twitchy.

If you got Sky+ I'll find the time index for you and get the comment.

Wasn't commenting on the car setup I was commenting on the time he span in a straight line.. it was because he was off line.

I still say that his series of spins was not purely down to his own doing. A lot of it would be down to the set-up of the car.

Which would mean poor lap times. Spinning is driving faster than the car can handle. Set up means noting. He was simply pushing the car far to hard and lost loads of tiem every spin. he should have just driven a little slower.

I'll agree up to a point. But these guys are used to a car where it does pretty much what you tell it to do.

I think Massa's issues were down to dodgy car setup and an overly excited right foot..

It doesn't matter how the car is, you have to find the limit and stay within it. Therefore it doesn't matter how it is set up.

Set up means noting.

On the contrary it does.

A car that is setup with lower ride height and camber will have better grip out of corners than that of a car which is configured for say a high speed circuit.

Setup will unquestionably affect the way that car can accelerate out of corners.
E.g. a well configured car could possibly leave corners at higher revs than other ones.

Massa speaking... lets see!

Well, the facts are evident.

In 2007, 3 drivers went into the last race with a chance to win the WDC.
In 2008, at the half way point, 4 drivers are all within 2 points of eachother at the top of the WDC standings.

Those are the facts. Not opinions - facts.

In years gone by, you have people like Mansell and Schumacher winning the title by huge points margins, with 4-5 races to spare. Those days of such crushing dominance are, for the time being, gone. This was the aim of the FIA.

I wasn't arguing with you. I just pointed out a post praising Max. You don't see many of them.

Very good race to watch today, another unpredictable one, happy for Hamilton, even though I don't support him, deserved it after his drive tho:p

Happy that Kimi got some points to keep tie with the other 2 top drivers, should have made a change when he was falling behind tho:mad:

Massa, don't know what was going on with him, seemed like he lost all hope and was just driving sloppily after his 1st spin out.
Overall, an enjoyable race, hope more are like this!

Yes it will affect lap time, not spins.

Spins are pushing the car to hard. Yes he had a bad setup and he should have found the limit. Just like every driver has to do every race and after every pit stop.
