2008 British Grand Prix - Race 9/17

Did anyone see heidfelds expression during the press conference of utter dissbelief of hamiltons arrogence when he was talking about the race?!?! Im all for hamilton being a pretty good driver (granted he hasnt seen a bad f1 car yet though so he can not be a great as james allen loves to think) but he could not admit that he just got lucky!

On a side note, that GP proves exactly why Silverstone has lost the contract from 2010, the only reason it was watchable was the rain and no gp curcit deserves a place on the callender based on the fact it might rain to produce something interesting.

what are you talking about, they got lucky with a tyre choice, any monkey who could drive would have been able to do that given his position. wind your neck in.

Sorry man, but thats not the case. Barrichello was the only guy on the track who chose to get the Extreme Wets on. If it was so easy a choice, why didnt others follow suit?

Sometimes, when you are racing, you have to have to be able to think clearly enough to make a decision like that. MS, Senna and Prost all had this ability.

Luck,what *** luck?

he kept it on the race track and put in stunning lap times. That has nothing to do that's driving skill. So you how rubbish some of eh other drivers are when it's outside of there comfort zone.

How is lapping 6 seconds quicker than anyone else on the same tyres lucky?

its not his choice though, ok he may have input. but its the man ross brawn who's behind the whole operation

What was up with Massa though? What a disaster area.

Well the Ferrari looked snappy in the dry yesterday, it looked even worse in the wet today. Although strangely enough he was the fastest guy on track near the end of the race.

Just wait for all the "I got stuck in the car park", "poor facilites" etc stories over the next few days.

Its only when you compare the Silverstone facilities to other F1 tracks that you see how bad it really is. The pit complex and scaffold grandstands are laughable. Although the BRDC stand looks nice, shame they didn't put the money into the other facilities .

This thread is funny.

It proves one thing as well. Half of you lot pretend to be F1 fans, but you're not. You only watch it to have something to argue about. You all claim to love the sport and want to see good racing, and yet, even when we get a good race, you start *****ing about why someone was fast. You claim to hate all the hype around Lewis Hamilton, and yet by moaning every single god damn weekend, it proves that you're paying attention to it. Don't want to see Lewis' father get interviewed, SWITCH THE ****ING TV OFF!!!!

Some of you may just as well be football fans, you'd fit right in.

Today highlighted yet again how bad a driver Massa really is. I think Ferrari will have a completely new driver line up next year. I think Kimi is going to retire, possibly see Alonso going to Ferrari, and with a bit of luck they will bin Massa, who could cost them the WCC.

Agreed. Some people here just aren't happy even when they've just witnessed a stonkingly good race.

..snip... you'd fit right in.

Very true. I have no real favs or hates in F1 (unlike some people here), I like to see a good race. I don't care about the hype about driver x, what matters is what they deliver on the track. I switch off the TV when the race has finished. I don't need Mark Blundell and Steve Ryder to tell me what a good drive it was by Hamilton... I could see for myself.

Today was a good race, lots of overtakes, drivers making mistakes, some showing real class in the wet. Best race this year.

Bit unfair really considering he is the joint leader of the WDC.

Really happy for Hamilton, he drove a brilliant race in very tricky conditions, and glad Rubens got on the podium highly deserved (actually should have got 2nd if it wasnt for the fuel rig)

How the **** do ferrari always luck into points when they least deserve it - thats the second time this season Kimi (he gained a point after retiring near the end of one race) got points when he was basically attrocious - only because of other retirements did he get a result today

Gutted for Rubens not to get second. At one point he was 30 seconds a lap quicker than everybody else:eek:. When ITV said that it was I was amazed that no one else tried them i.e. Massa, what did he have to loose.

Luck into points? By overtaking Alonso and pulling away by lapping faster than him, Kovi, Hamilton etc near the end? The only car he wasn't faster than was Massa in the other Ferrari for the last couple of laps. Massa down in the 1.33s.

Bit unfair to say that considering Kimi has had his fair share of bad luck.
(E.g. last race - car exhaust. Canada - getting rammed by Hamilton in pits).

Swings and roundabouts.
