2008 British Grand Prix - Race 9/17

I'm still amazed how no-one went to full wets.
Massa, Kova, Alonso, was expecting them to all go for it as they didn't have a huge amount to loose.
Just how well Rubens did on them I think embaressed a few people possibly!

No doubt Hamilton was on top form today. Lots of luck needed today but you make your own luck in a lot of cases and Hamilton can make up for that lost luck with talent. A lot of other drivers struggle to fill the gap.

Yeah when Hamilton didn't put extreme wets on i thought the next shot of him would be him flying over the grass into a barrier!

YOU are the worse person on this forum for not believeing FACTS!!! Heikki has had some horrid luck and you call his tyre exploding, steering wheel stopping working, kimi puncturing his rear tyre as EXCUSES!

Erm, he got lapped by his team mate in today's race. Same car. And this was his strongest race track. Massa won his best track (Turkey), Heikki got lapped. Lets hear you come up with an excuse for today's poor performance. I'm waiting.

You can only make so many excuses for his consistent lack of (or low) point scoring ability.

Half the season in and Hamilton has doubled Heikki's points total. And this when you consider that Hamilton has been making some pretty bad racing decisions. When Hamilton starts getting it right, Heikki will be made to look pretty ordinary, not that it isnt happening already.

And dude, you gotta stop getting emotional. If you were Heikki's brother or father I could understand, but there really isnt any excuse for taking this so personally.

You have a poor memory. China last year, European GP last year. Oh but then again you have a problem with facts.

He binned it in the pits at China. No one crossed the line ahead of him as he didnt finish it, like I stated in my original post (his weakness is in the pitlane).

GP of Europe: Yes he finished out of the points, however it didnt help that he had a puncture (not his fault) in it. This was the last wet race where he failed to finish in 1st place.

No one crossed the line ahead of him as he didnt finish it
Got to put that in my sig - classic sunama ;)

Couple of questions:
  • Why do you think Silverstone is his strongest circuit? Not heard him say it is - though not really read much on Heikki
  • And why when Heikki has a puncture its his fault and its his excuses for not doing well, but when Hamilton has one you say its not his fault?
Im sorry sunama but you do alienate yourself by thinking you are the Murray Walker of these forums when it comes to F1, more like James Allen Im afraid ;):p. You sometimes do have some good, valid facts but mask them in opinion and pretension...

1. He doesnt have to say it. Its obvious. He was faster than Hamilton all weekend (in practise and qualifying sessions), bar the race. So far its been his strongest showing. His pole lap re-iterated this.

In an interview he also stated that he knows Silverstone well.

2. OK, I will give you 2 races for Heikki (when his car failed in Spain and when he did well in Malaysia). What about the excuses for the other 7 races?

The excuse of an exploding tyre can only be used so many times. And I still havent heard the excuse for today's poor performance.

Just because its his best showing doesnt infer its his favoured track, so its probably not wise to state it as a known fact as you have been. For all we know an early circuit could have been, but hes been learning a new car or one of the future circuits might be...

Why must an exploding tyre be an excuse and not a reason he or anyone didnt do well? Pretty much rules you out of doing well 9/10...

Heikki Q&A said:
What's your favourite F1 track?
Spa. It's a proper, proper track. Some of the run-off areas are still very small, and you feel a little bit more like a racing driver than on some of the other tracks. There is still no room for error.

Who is making excuses? You are the one saying he isn't good enough for McLaren cause he has had so many poor results... but you wont accept that he has had bad luck. Admit that and I will be happy. All you say is people make excuses for him but how can you account for the things that have happened to him that are TOTALLY out of his control.

Seen as you are telling me what to do i think i will do the same. Stop being a moron who thinks your opinion is fact. You are not the authority on F1. I am not taking this personally. I (and others) are trying to point out what a tool you are making of yourself every time you post about Heikki. Give it up. You normally post some good stuff but on this subject you need to let go. Judge each race as it comes and comment on stuff that the driver has control of.

Lol! Priceless!

Stop making excuses for him! Lol! Sound familiar!? I suppose that was Hamiltons fault by your logic? And China was the last wet race he failed to finish first. There have been two since and he has won both.

Spot on.

So, to everyone who was there, how long did it take you to get out of the car park? 2 1/2 hours here :(

took 1:30 to get from Silverstone to the M40, then just another 2 hours to get home.
Traffic was horrendous on the A34 and the M40.

Just got back (having stayed there for a good few hours afterwards to let the traffic disperse!). Had a cracking weekend. Albeit, a soggy one by mid-afternoon today! Utterly disappointed by what happened with both RBR's - so roll on Hockenheim!

Bit of a strange race to watch from the stands. Seemed that so much was going on it was hard to keep track, even with a Kangaroo TV set! Will have to watch the highlights later on this evening.

I stayed on for the classic cars support race - that was awesome. Left about 5pm. Just off to watch highlights now since I'm sure I missed loads. There was just so much to take in.

I did start to read this thread, but saw the number of pages and thought I'll just jump to the end for now. :)

I think you definitely taking it personally. You must take a chill pill.
I wont bother retaliating to the moron comment as I dont take GP discussions personally. This is a forum for debate and exchanging views, not to call eachother names if they disagree.

He had bad luck when his tyre exploded.

Can you go through 2008, race by race, bar Malaysia and give the bad luck that he was a victim of which prevented him scoring good points.
