So, to everyone who was there, how long did it take you to get out of the car park? 2 1/2 hours here :(

20minutes to get off the Main Carpark, 20minutes from there to get onto the M1, and then not a single holdup all the way home. The traffic really flowed well, much better than i can remember over the last 7years.

I left the carpark about 30minutes after the main race finished so probably missed the worst of it. :)

yes you missed the wirst of it :D

Ah, we were in the second car park, so had to wait for the ENTIRE main to empty. Ridiculous if you ask me, last year was everyone go at the same time.

Bit unfair to say that considering Kimi has had his fair share of bad luck.
(E.g. last race - car exhaust. Canada - getting rammed by Hamilton in pits).

Swings and roundabouts.

not finishing and still getting a point is not lucky?

Yeah ok you have a point with Canada, but it wasnt BAD for him as one of his main competitors went out in the same incident (so he didnt loose any points in respect to his competitor)

When McLaren have a bad race no other team do so they dont score points, the only time Ferrari seem to have a bad race, people/cars are falling off the race track left, right and centre so they luck into fourth place

Personally thought Kov drove very badly today - he was just no where near the pace of the sister car, yeah great Pole lap but what does that actually stand for now, absolute squat!!

He really should have done better

Luck into points? By overtaking Alonso and pulling away by lapping faster than him, Kovi, Hamilton etc near the end? The only car he wasn't faster than was Massa in the other Ferrari for the last couple of laps. Massa down in the 1.33s.

Do you really think we saw the true pace of the McLaren in the last 20 laps or so (by which time Hamilton was over a pitstop ahead of everyone) - they where saving the engine for the next race, so thats no comparison. Kovi was dreadful all day, he was off the pace of Hamilton all day apart from brief spurts (and thats more than likely controlled seeing as how in control of the whole race H was)

Kimi was lucky not to be beached, or knock into barriers at least once if not twice, so yeah I do call it lucky he was there :D

Alonso was outclassed by his rookie teammake - that says it all

Theres your problem!

Been the last 3 years (not this year) and been park and ride every time. Exit track, walk to bus stop, get on bus, go to Hinton in the Hedges Airfield, get off bus, get into car, drive off airfield, join motorway, total time, about 30 mins :)

I think they should give a point for pole - just love to see someone from the back do a flying lap on fumes just to get that point...

Doesnt sound as stupid as I thought...

ps3ud0

It is a good idea until you get someone like Schumacher dominating too much (and winning in an even shorter time than before by sticking it on pole each time :p).

Well I've just got back from Silverstone, fantastic weekend and a great race. Much more enjoyable than last year.

I actually managed to get away quite handy, I was off the car park within an hour of trying and off on to the good old A43......then the Mondeo boiled its coolant and dumped the rest across the road. That was another 2 hours while passers by pointed and laughed, then a nice 3 hours up the M6.

Well worth it though! :D

No they should give extra points for fastest race lap like they do in Porsche Supercup, which Britain dominated today BTW.

They used to do that in Indycar (not sure if they still do).

1 pt for Pole
1 pt for fastest lap

but,

20pts for race win.

I only used to watch Indycar when Mansell was over there (in 93/94), so I'm not sure if the points are still being awarded in the above manner.

Am I dreaming or didnt they use to do that in F1 agessssssss ago? (along with point for pole)

Maybe it was just a racing game, but thought it was actually in the rules at some point

Has anyone mentioned Rubens and his "stumble"

He was on the podium and I was waiting and waiting and he did his stumble just before the champers. :D

Anyone know why he does it?

Maybe 25 points for the win and points further down the field like in motoGP? It would make it more interesting for the midfield and backmarkers as they'd still be racing for something.

Massa's (and Kimi's) car was clearly set up for a dry race, the car was propably very stiff with low downforce, on the other hand he should have slowed down more to stop him spinning but he is a racedriver so slowing down is very difficult to do.

It was very noticable that at the moments there was a dry line he was faster than the rest but as soon as the rain came back he was too slow and started spinning again, I saw the McLarens drifting and oversteering as well but perhaps the suspension was softer to allow them to correct the spin with opposite lock?

Some of the criticism towards LH was justified on other occasions but yesterday he proved it wrong by driving a magnificient race, he only had one minor spin with all the other laps being consistently faster on average than all the others.

LH didn't spin at all... there was a small moment where he couldn't slow down for a corner in time and decided to cut the grass to be on the safe side (better than losing the rear!)

McLaren did look the better setup car all weekend. It's just funny that before the race a lot of people were thinking that it was Ferrari who had the wet race setup considering their qually performance.

Haha yeah I was waiting for this too  I can't remember why he does it - I think it was to do with a mistake he made when younger or something.
