I am going to be up all night watching the commentary and seeing the results come in live. I am so excited![]()
I'm only unsure as to where to watch Sky, or BBC? Heart says BBC but Sky will just be better....
Unfortunately a lot of socialists would prefer the rich to be poorer, than the poor to be richer.
Ahhahahahahhahahahahahahaha.
if Gordon Brown is nothing at least he is honest
And how would you suggest the poor become richer? there isn't a lot of jobs out there right now, let alone good paying jobs.
I'm all for getting people off benefits but unless the government comes out and sticks up for people jobs and help rebuild the industry that's already left there isn't a lot of choice for people.
Create jobs by encouraging employment from big scary corporations in new places. Give tax cuts to start ups, change education to steer towards our economy of service. I'm not an economist by any means, but things like the massive LG plant in wales, the new chip fab that AMD have built in NY have all rejuvenated economy in their areas. Give the area jobs, give the people spending money which in turn encourages even more business further down the line. The problem is keeping the companies there once you've given them 3 years of tax free or whatever, as seen with the LG plant in wales and iirc Intel or someone in Ireland recently?
Just had a thought.
According to this blog post (http://www.clickymedia.co.uk/2010/04/uk-facebook-user-statistics-april-2010/) there are 25 million users of Facebook in the UK. Very roughly if you take off 5 million users who are ineligible to vote (under age) that's a potential army of 20 million voters. Of that number, the official 'I voted' counter is sitting at 800,000.
Of course it's only half way through the day, most people are still at work and a lot of people won't be bothered to check the 'I voted' button, but that's still a depressingly low turnout.

Just back from the polling station (5 doors up) and crossed the Conservative box.
I'm in Glasgow North East (Michael Martins old seat, yay for no representation!), which has been Labour for ages. SNP are the second party and Tories rarely get a look-in but who knows what'll happen tonight!
I'm really excited to see what happens!
I've already got a mattress set up in the living room so I can watch the telly.
Better than voting Labour/SNPVoting Conservative in Scotland is a bit like not voting at all for all the influence it will have![]()
