2012 Weight Loss Thread

Hi guys, i am after a bit of advice, I want to loose some weight for my holiday in June, I only work part time in the mornings, so the rest of the day I am at home, hence why i think i have put on weight. I don't think its what i eat becasue we eat decent home cooked meals for tea, i normally have a sandwich for dinner.
So I have started to go swimming a couple of times a week, but apart from that, whats another good way to shed the weight?

I have got weights, but my arms are not the issue, its mainly my belly :)

Cheers, Dan

It stands to reason that your creatine supplementation will have skewed the results too.

It stands to reason hence I have already mentioned it. Thanks for telling me something I already know.

And shame on you, don't link me wiki, I want sources. In particular, please compare my particular scales with my Total Body Water test. It might be hard since you neither have my body, nor my scales. I eagerly await your response.

You seem to be arguing in a strange way, so I'll just wish you good luck.

Actually, you are the one arguing, I am quite content. Thank you for the wishes.

You made the claim

Electronic scales, so a bit of a waste of time...

I asked, you to prove it, you quick linked a wiki page and ran. Well done, thats a 1:1 dissertation right there.

Sadly, there seems to be an awful lot of hostile pseudoscientific quackery emanating from this section of the forum.

Another 4.5lb off this week, total loss since start of April is 26.5lb. Just finished my first 4k run with no walking breaks.

I'll throw into this thread. So far since February I've lost 11 lbs, although I've been very lax over the past couple of weeks and put 2 back on. The loss was down to cutting out crisps, reducing white bread intake and spending more time on the bike (cycle, not wife)

Weighed in at 94.3kg this morning, I don't have a specific target out timescale at the moment, I guess the next milestone is 90kg. I'll aim for that asap.

Week 20 Weigh in:

Starting weight beginning of January 14st 6lb
Target weight end of June 11st

Last Monday 11st 7lb
This Monday 11st 7lb

0lb loss

Gutted! no weight loss this week, it's getting tougher to shed those last few pounds and Herman (a cake my wife bakes) hasn't helped.

I know why I haven't lost anything but it's hard with so many temptations lately and such poor weather :(

I have 5 Weeks to lose 7lbs, Will I do it?

Just have to keep plugging, weight loss is an odd thing & wildly inconsistent.

I went six weeks without dropping any weight at all (massively demotivating), before finally losing a steady 2 to 3 pound a week... makes no sense at all.

Yeeeeeeha! Just had my first ever visceral fat classification drop, from a low, 'high' 10 to a high 'normal' 9. I suspect its borderline so expect it to flip flop a little in the coming weeks, but well chuffed.

Congrats, that will no doubt compliment today's 2kg of lean mass gain :)

Oh MoNkeE, my sweet buttercup. Why not for once in your life try to be the bigger man about this. I have never made that claim, not once, go on, quote me. Lets chalk this one down to experience, agree to disagree, ill put you on my ignore list and you put me on yours. Either way, this is our last communication. Okay shnookems?

Same goes for you ice or whoever wants to continue this trolling charade.

Don't flatter yourself mate, you don't get under my skin that much :)

I just dislike such obvious misinformation, be it misguided intentionally or otherwise. The way you actually refute sound explainations to what you claim is exactly the sort of bumf I don't want other less experienced people taking as gospel, solely 'cause you sound off as if you're an authority on the subject.

As for icecold's wiki hit and run, it takes you two clicks to find a source from that link. Or do you simply want it spoon fed to you so you can reject it further?

As for the quote me part, well I was exaggerating with the 2kg of lean mass. Well more accurately I was ridiculing your notion of losing 4% bodyfat whilst only losing roughly half a kilo of weight in less than 6 weeks :p

Total loss for me since beginning of April is now 13.5kg / 29.7lb. Running is getting better and hope to break a 5k this week. Running about 20k a week now.
