2012 Weight Loss Thread

Lost 5Lbs this week by cutting down portions, no wine except on weekend and no eating after 6pm. No exercise though

I have cut portions and switched to healthier food, as well as doing some decent exercise. I am losing a pound a day at the moment!! Not sure how sustainable that is, as it is no doubt just water weight. Expecting it to slow down next week

In my attempt so far is to drink 8 pints of water a day, averaging 4-6 a day right now, problem is for me I need about 3 coffees to get my day started.

Also when I drink i'm a mixers or beer guy. Not hardcore but I am interested in how much weight i can shift with cutting down on caffeine and fizzy drinks.

Currently weigh about 9 stone (57kg)

Planning on entering double digits by the end of the year!

Good luck here, I weight about 13.5 stone ish. Trying to put on a stone, eaten loads but trying to keep it healthy to not pack on too much fat. Damn its hard, always full, trying to shove food down my neck just for extra calories.

Really thought it would be easy, but its not. Going to be even harder when I go to lose it again :(

You can have too much water which mucks up the balance of electrolytes and you can "drown". 4-6 is about right unless you are living in the desert or exercising.

And no-one "needs" coffee to get going in the morning. You just think you do. :D

if you want to gain weight, just drink 4 litres of full fat milk a day and do loads of heavy squats. you'll soon start racking it up.

Evening guys. I decided it was time to shift some of the weight I've gradually been putting on the past couple of years. I'm 6'3'' and weighed 112.7kg when I started on Tuesday. I've gone on a no-carb diet advised by my brother. He seems to know his stuff and has a great physique which he works on hard. I use the electronic scales at my mums work (she's a vet' nurse so they I know the scales are accurate as they are calibrated regularly. So for the past 4 days I have found it hard but do feel better. Played football and made a couple of gym visits. I picked my mum up today and thought I'd pop on the scales (I have the TargetWeight app so I thought the more frequent I weigh myself the better the progress I can see). So I weighed 110.1kg. I find it hard to believe that I've lost 2.6kg in 4 days but my intake has reduced vastly.

Thanks for the advice :D

I do exercise every other day with a 30-60 minutes session, depending on how i feel. Also been trying to replace a coffee or two with bananas in the morning with a bowl of muesli.

My office has really harsh AC that dries the place out - so I can get through 6 or 7 pints of water a day at work! Eek

I drink no where near as much at home.

Keeping my carbs to about 50g, protein to about 170g and kcals to about 1,200 I've lost 9lbs on my first week back on the plan. It takes me down to 209lbs. So, very pleased with with my first week.

That kcal intake is very low, I'd be wary. 10xBodyweight in lbs is about right assuming 3x a week exercise imo.

First week Weigh in:

Last Monday 14st 6lb
This Monday 14st 1lb

5lb lost :)

Only managed to do one 3 mile run ( actually run, walk, run walk!) because I'm on jury service atm and not getting the time. Weight loss is purely down to cutting out junk I think.
