2012 Weight Loss Thread

First week weigh in:

Last Sunday - 22st 12lb
This Sunday - 22st 7lb

5lb also :p

Surprised really, not had a loss over 5 for a while now, nevertheless happy!

(Total loss since September '11 - 3st 5lbs)

Being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes mainly!

Joking aside, it was a major kick up the bum and a long needed lifestyle change.

A diabetic's diet is a healthy diet!

Exercise wise, gym every week day and badminton/long walk on a Sunday.

Long way to go but seeing the results is so rewarding.

I bet it's rewarding! Well ruddy done!!

I am hoping to lose 3.5/4 stone before July. Exercising 6 days a week now. With a rest day on Saturday, and a sedate swim on Friday mornings. Hope to see the same sort of results.

At the beginning of October, I was 17 and a half stone.

I am now 15 and a half stone.

Your me :)

I'm 17.5 stone now and have till July to get down to 15.5 comfortable or 15 at a push. Mongol Rally on July 14th and want to be fit and feeling good for the time we leave.

Not sure if i'd feel too skinny at 15 stone though ?

44 years old now and have had a very non physical job for the last 3 years, sweet tooth and basicaly gone lazy.

Good work Pumaz! Imagine how much you will lose when you can get the exercise into the mix :)

Thanks :)

Once I've finished jury service I'm hoping to start off by running 3 miles a night on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then progress on to cycling to work and back once I feel up to it.

My job is very physical as well and involves allot of heavy lifting so I'm hopping this combined with the above routine will be enough as I no I won't be able to stick going to a gym!

I should also point out I'm 43 although I don't feel it lol

I am trying to keep my calories at a more normal level, so there is less chance of weight gain when I up them again. I would die on 1200kcal ;)

I've got to say 1200 kcals ain't that bad. I've never had any problems sticking to it and that includes going out for a meal in Nandos and before any one asks I do eat breakfast and dinner before Nandos and still meet 1200 :)

What do you eat on an average day? Can be quite hard to get what 1200 kcal looks like :)

I've mostly ignored this thread since I haven't been able to weigh myself yet :/ All I know is it's very, very bad.

However since the new year (why not eh? :p) I have been eating just the 3 meals a day with no snacking or what not between. Quick typical example from last year:

Breakfast: Omlette/scrambled egg with bacon/cheese/beans to suit
1st break at work: bag of crisps and 2 chocolate bars!!
Lunch: home made bread with cheese & meats
2nd break at work: more chocolate, high sugar energy drink
Dinner: Meat & 2 veg type thing but rarely properly hungry due to eating too much at work.

After that I'd still eat more crisps/chocolate and what not whilst at the computer :(

All change now though :D cut out the above snacking and down a litre of water instead and consistently hitting 4 - 6 litres per day! :D

Feeling great so far :)

Your new 3 meal a day diet will be poor. You need to read up on macronutrients. You need to understand the food types well and I'd advise 4-5 smaller meals a day, including calorie neglilable foods to make you feel more full

Well I am in for this year... Have over the past two years got really bad and am now 111 kg which is way to much for my 198cm frame.. Target is 80kg which is a weight I feel comfortable at...

I will be achieving this by cutting my already reasonably low carbohydrate intake to around 60g / day (am a type 1 diabetic so reducing carbs has added benefits) and will be reducing what must be the large amount of fats I am eating to maintain my current weight.. no idea how much I eat at the moment am starting to diaries today.

Good Luck All

Just a quick question guys about what will work best for me.

I haven't eaten breakfast for years and years as I don't have time / want to make time for it, my question is would it be beneficial to drink a meal replacement shake for breakfast as opposed to not having anything at all?

Breakfast is so important! You really need to make time. Gets your metabolism up for the day

Don't worry I haven't eaten breakfast for probably ~7 years. Cals In< Cals Out is the most important factor, meal timing/frequency is the extra 5% and it's debatable at that.

The only way it might be 'important' is psychologically, physically it's not really necessary. Quite the opposite. Eat Stop Eat is a good read which touches on shorter fasting periods along with LeanGains.

You cant just look at your breakfast calories in isolation though (for me anyway).
I find that if i skip breakfast, i'm so hungry by lunchtime that i eat a huge amount more than i otherwise would.
So the extra few hundred calories in the morning actually saves me more than that later in the day.
