2012 Weight Loss Thread

Agree with icecold, try adding porridge/cereal/toast in there, I did just fruit for breakfast for a week and it just made my feel very tired by about 10:30 once the initial sugar high dropped off. I tend to have a fruit porridge with some banana or strawberry chopped up on top and that keeps me going nicely until lunch.

cereal i do have at times, porridge never really tried it much but yeah i might give it a try at work since they do sell it in the canteen now.
I useally have cereal for breakfast then have a sandwidge at lunch followed by a real dinner at 5pm so i'm looking to reduce the calory intake i have, maybe i need to look at it at a different angle

Personally I never found skipping breakfast helped my weight loss as I just ate more at lunch (and felt less energetic all morning). I'm trying to get into habits I can stick to and I know long term I can't go without a filling (albeit not big) breakfast so I don't see the point trying as at some point I'll go back to old ways.

Some people can go hard out on a diet to shift weight and then go back to normal, personally I think I'm better to make changes that I'll stick with long term and trust that regular exercise will shift the weight and at some point I'll hit an equilibrium point.

If I hit that too soon then I will adjust my diet a touch or up my exercise a little more. My hope is that this way I will get to the weight/shape I want and won't need to change anything at that point and risk going back to bad habits but at the same time I won't have made myself miserable in the meantime by living off fruit and lettuce.

I only lost 0.8lbs this week, but I lost more body fat than I did during my 6lb weight loss last week. Basically I was more hydrated than my last weigh in :p

I have just cut down my portion sizes vastly. Cut down drinking in the week. I dont eat after 6:30pm. No exercise either!! Seems to be working for me at the mo.

Joined this thread thread a bit late! Started in January at around 17st8 currently at 15st2.
My diet is:
Breakfast:Porridge /w skimmed milk
Lunch: Big soup or salad
Dinner: Some variant of meat and veg
Drink: Either water or sugar free flavoured water.

Exercise wise either a 3-8 mile walk or biggest loser in the Wii

Looking to hit 14st by May and then see if I want to loose more weight or focus on fitness.

I am 14.1 stone, according to BMI/my height I need to be 11 stone... :/ not sure where to start even

I need to be the same weight as you!

I started this diet (see earlier posts) in January at 14st 6lb and as of this Monday I'm down to 12st 12lb. I put my weight loss down to using an App that's available for iOS and Android called MyFitnessPal. It's basicly a calorie counter but it's very useful and will help you adjust your eating habits.

I've also taken up running 3 times a week. I'm doing a 2.8 mile route. when I first started about a month or so ago I couldn't run for longer than a couple of mins at a time or about quarter of a mile without slowing down to a walk. But now I can run 2 miles before I need to walk for a min the run again etc. I'm also using an App for this called Endomondo.

Next week I plan to start cycling to work then maybe after a month or so of that I might join a gym that includes swimming (the local council). I'm trying to keep away from anything that I won't continue with once I get down to my Ideal weight, So no fancy diets or food I wouldn't normally eat. This is more of a life style change for me and not a diet.

Hope this helps :)

At the start of the year i weighed myself and I was about 14st 3lbs. Although I'm not one for 'dieting' I have cut out a great deal of crap i was eating while i was at work. Too close to Tesco / Farmfoods for cheap chocolate! But by and large still kept a relatively balanced diet. I have however worked myself harder playing 5s on a friday and just last week I started playing 5s on a monday as well. Weighed myself today and discovered i was 13st 6lb and I'm hoping to get down to at least 13st by the middle of the year. No real target set though. I'm just aiming to get back to a better fitness level than I'm currently at :)

I'd take BMI readings with a pinch of salt. They dont take in to count muscle mass etc, just the overall weight. I'm the same as you in terms of where it told me i should be at. I'm 14st too and how I look compared when I was at school at 14st are 2 totally different looks :).

Got a routine and diet sorted to start with?

Another week another weigh-in. Probably my worst week for a long time in regards to eating, drinking and lack of excercise as work has simply been mauling me. Factored it all in to my calories and ate about 500 calories over my Myfitnesspal target for the week, still managed a 3lb weight loss. Expecting this to catch me up soon and have a 0 week though.

Down to 18 stone 6, 24lbs lost so far.

Today's weigh-in: down to 79.3kg from 93kg in just over 3 months, BMI now below 25 which I'm very pleased about. Really noticing the difference, actually feeling my stomach firming up although still a few months off having anything resembling a flat belly or six pack.

Ninth week weigh in:

Last Sunday - 20st 8lb
This Sunday - 20st 3lb

5lb loss

No idea how that happened!

(Total loss since September '11 - 5st 10lb )

Should be under 20st next week for the first time in years.

Week 9 Weigh in:

Starting weight beginning of January 14st 6lb
Target weight end of June 11st

Last Monday 12st 12lb
This Monday 12st 10lb

2lb lost

Yet again another 2lb lost! been losing dead on 2lb for the last few weeks which i'm very happy with. 4lb to go which in theory is 2 weeks and i'll have lost 2 stones :D

Going to start cycling to work on Wednesday so that should help, I'm trying not to join a gym at this point but I can see the benefits especially when the local council one includes swimming!

Nice to see some regs still posting, keep it up guys :)
