2012 Weight Loss Thread

19th week weigh in:

Last Sunday - 17st 9lb
This Sunday - 17st 6lb

3lb loss

Very surprised this week as I missed the gym twice due to Uni.

This will be my last check in until late June as I am away on holiday, lots of exercises planned for when I am away so I am hoping to be into the 16s easily by the time I get back.

(Total loss since September '11 - 8st 7lbs)

It's not a pretty picture but I'm certainly getting there! Think I may have issues with loose skin on the stomach but time will tell.

Total lost from the left to right picture is about 5 stone, I've lost very close to 7 in total though.

Here is where I started in 2011 - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18499861&postcount=76

Fantastic work mate, well done. I am also 6,4 and weighed 147kg, so very similar to you. I started in September and I am now 117kg, so almost 5 stones lost.

I usally lose around a 1 KG a week, although recently I have seem to be losing more slowly, around 0.5kg a week, I am doing the same exercises and being very watchful on my diet. I'm hoping the fat is turning more in to muscle mass, since I've had to up my weights considerably recently. With regards to the lose skin, try a few more core exercises to strengthen that area up, along with all the other stuff your doing.

Have you got any general tips ? I'm very strict with my diet in the weekdays, lost of water, veg, chicken etc.... then have cheat day on the weekend. Once again great work.

I try to be strict in the week but i do starve myself a bit. I dont eat after 6:30 of an evening but on a friday we do pig out a little and on the weekend.

Went out for the first time with the running club last night, was ok but a road 3k is deffo worth more than a treadmill 3k. Running 3k 6 nights a week. Another 6lb off since last weigh in, total loss is 22lbs. Still a long way to go though lol.

Cheers mate, it's been a long road but I'm very happy with how it's going - rather than dropping a load quickly and then giving up cause I've been starving myself too much I've changed my whole lifestyle round and taken things slowly but steadily.

If you've dropped 5 stone already it's clear you already know the general rule of weight loss, eat less and move more! In terms of what I've been doing/am doing it's just a case of cycling to work every day, having a healthy balanced diet and going for longer bike rides at the weekend. I still have cheat days, normally once a week, where anything goes.

Slow and steady wins the race!

My previous weight loss troubles seemed to be from eating too little,

I stupidly assumed myfitnesspal would calculate the calorie allowances reasonably (it didn't).

I upped my daily calories from 1,200 to 2,000, replace the daily 30mins cardio with X3 times a week strength training & I went from losing nothing (over 4 weeks) to around 2 to 3 pounds a week over the last few weeks.

Starting weight 15st, 1p

Current weight 14st, 0.5p

Odd to say the least..., as I'm eating more & exercising less (but doing heavy lifting) & losing weight faster....

Its taken two years but finally got there. I set myself the goal of reducing my weight to something more suitable for my height.

Im 5' 8"

Start weight was 83.5kg / 184lbs (38" waist)

Weight today 53kg / 116lbs (29" waist)

I achieved this through a change of diet and taking up running. My only concern now is stoping loosing weight. I plan to do more running and start doing some cycling so I need to plan a way to increase the caloires without putting the fat back.

I'd like to add more muscle mass but I guess thats slightly at odds with my desire to improve my running. Whats the best approach for adding muscle and improving diatance running times?

Dodgy scales aside, still plodding on, and the data is definitely producing trend lines in the right direction.

I am a fat burning machine :) If i can keep this up, i should be hitting the upper limit of normal body fat, 20%, for a male, by mid July.

Pardon me for asking but are you male or female? That is some very impressive weight loss but 8st 4lb is bordering on to thin.

On your note about puttingon mass while wanting to improve your running, this will all be about your diet. To add weight you need to be in calorie excess, you know your own body, so try out adding calorie amounts for a certain period and if you are still losing add more caliories, if your gaining to much, cut down a little. Try increasing by 250 cal per day for at least 2-3 weeks if you don't notice anything, add 250 more.

Good luck with your new goals :)

I'm male. I agree that i'm now at the bottom limit.

Diet can be quite hard as I put weight on very quickly, which then takes ages to loose. For example it took 6 weeks to loose the weight I put on over ten days at Christmas and I wasnt exactly binge eating then.

My diet is quite strick but assumes periods of over intake when Im away working and eating out in resturants day after day. Guess its just a case of careful monitoring and trial and error.

Your diet is key, if you want to achieve your new goals you need to work out exactly what your eating now on a day to day basis, and then increase your intake in small imcrements.

You might think your diet is good now but you will be surprised how bad it actually is.

I am 5"7 and weigh about 27kg more then you, I found on my current 2.3k caller day I am not losing weight, so I will be adjusting that down a little.

I would be surprised if your eating 1500 cal per day at the moment, and assuming you are doing or will be doing regular cardio this won't be enough to gain weight. Check out the diet thread in the sticky, this should offer some help :)

You're kidding right? There's a little over the half a kilo in weight difference between the start and the end of that graph.

Either you are colour blind or can't read graphs :p 31 - 27 = a 4% reduction in body fat percentage in under roughly a month, which is what, about 3.7kg of fat. Building muscle while burning fat. Google it ;)

So you believe that you've packed on over 3 kilos of muscle in less than a month? That's some routine and diet you've got

Well no, not quite. I started creatine towards the start of my measurements so an amount of that will be added water weight due to the increased muscular water uptake. But yes indeed, you are quite right. You know neither my diet, my routine, my genetics, supplementation or lifestyle. All I have to give are results, and even a dodgy pair of scales reveal interesting information over time.

Your scorn amuses me.

Yeah like you've dropped a whopping half kilo and during that time your weight and body fat according to your stats has been up and down. Keep up the good work

Cheers I will, and I can handle a bit of douchebaggery just fine ta muchly. :) Since I have results and you plain have a bad attitude. Up and down with a negative trend. ;) I am back in my 32" waste jeans down from 36" and my misses is right now looking at me most amourously ;)
