not a dirty hit, when watching it live nobody thought anything about it so why now once the injury has been revealed.
Wentz became a runner so different rules apply. replace wentz with boston scott, it wouldn't be in the news now.
also lol the guy above in the vid arguing wentz's durability.

If it concust Boston Scott (and of course it would, as Wentz durability is not in question) we may possibly be talking about it. (We might not as it might not have effected the game result) The fact the runner was going down and a clear effort is made to lead with the crown of the helmet says to me it was a dirty hit.

any Giants fans here?

thoughts on Joe Judge (new HC) and the possibility of Jason Garret being the new OC?

i think bringing in garret would be a mistake, makes them look like they have a backup plan for judge failing.

as for judge, also for some of the new young head coaches being brought in , i'd be concerned with their lack of experience in lead positions, whether its offensive co-ordinator, defensive co-ordinator etc

in that there was a good statement about the difference between toughness and durability.

wentz's problem is that he can't complete a season without some sort of issue, realise this one wasn't injury related but the eagles will be glad if they get him into pre season without any major issues.

getting your bell rung is now a durability issue?
it was a freak accident / bang bang play / whatever you want to call it. I was much more worried after last season being back injury.

i've just rewatched it in real time. just a bang bang play. if wentz wants to give himself up, slide, which he couldn't do at time.
so it's fine, it happens in football.

not totally, but its a season he's failed to finish without having an issue he's got to recover from.

all players have problems, and as they themselves say they very rarely play feeling better than 90% fit, there are always niggles, with wentz hes at the end of his season having to recover from a serious problem.

the vid that was linked mentioned that he was having serious issues when he was on the sideline after the hit.

it does, but more and more these plays are getting called when it's helmet to helmet contact, thing's that were ok even a couple of seasons ago are getting called.

my issue with the play involving clowney is that it was the crown of the helmet and it was from behind, no idea why he's going that high to bring a player down from behind ?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Wentz was on his way down, from a tackle. The most that was needed was a hand on his back to ensure he was downed.

Clowney hasn't 'laid out' and wasn't committed. The amount he actually had to crunch down to get his helmet on the back of Wentz's helmet, to me, says it's not a freak accident. Quite a bit of effort was needed to adjust his trajectory to be able to hit him as he gets to the ground and not just go flying over the top of him.

As the guy in the video said, he's not a dirty player, but that was a dirty hit. I've done one similar myself (ploughed into a guy that had recovered a fumble, laying on the ground) that in the heat of the moment you don't think anything of, but on reflection you think 'yeah, that wasn't necessary. I probably shouldn't have done that'.

As Andy says, it's the fact that it's totally unnecessary that gets me. Wentz is clearly going to the ground, there's no need for Clowney to make the tackle, let alone lower his head in the manner he did. A simple hand to confirm he's down would have done. Yes, I know it's a playoff game with everything on the line and these things do happen, I just think it's going a bit far.

The Browns have requested to interview Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz for their head coaching vacancy, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday night, per a source.

If granted, Schwartz's interview would be the eighth that Cleveland has scheduled and/or executed. Other candidates include Eric Bieniemy, Brian Daboll, Josh McDaniels, Greg Roman, Robert Saleh and Kevin Stefanski. The Browns were reportedly tied to Dennis Allen and Urban Meyer, as well, and interviewed Mike McCarthy before he signed with the Cowboys on Monday.

The 53-year-old coach has not been a head coach since his five-year tenure with the Detroit Lions from 2009 to 2013. Schwartz led them to a 29-51 record in his five campaigns

While he has the experience, not sure that's a record worthy of a HC job.

Jimmy 'more money than sense' Haslam needs to stop firing everyone....I feel for Browns fans.

Honestly don't know how you guys get excited every season with such lack of staffing consistancy!

Heard the rumours they were just gonna say screw it and try to hire someone over the weekend - laughable if true!

mm, this could either be really good or a disaster :D

The Rams are hiring former Redskins offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell as their offensive coordinator and Broncos outside linebackers coach Brandon Staley as their new defensive coordinator

Going from a 72-year-old veteran defensive coordinator to a 37-year-old first-time DC and a 34-year-old OC

not sure how this will affect mcvay as he was calling for the OC

So what are people's predictions for the Divisional round? Are we going with the favourites or do you think there could be any upsets on the cards? Personally I'm going:

Niners to beat Vikings
Ravens to beat Titans
Chiefs to beat Texans
Seahawks to beat Packers

I'm all in on the favourites this weekend. Niners, Ravens, Chiefs and Packers. Saying that the money line on the bets are so absurd I've tool Vikings, Texans, Titans (and Packers straight up)

Giving the Titans +11? That's insane so took some of that action.
