***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

If you want the best panel out there wait for a year maybe? all the panels out there at the moment are 60Hz panels overclocked, Wait until they all release panels with native 100Hz+ refresh rates.

Is this something that is largely agreed upon? Is the Asus PG348Q better than the Acer X34/X34A? I am in the market for a 21:9 and want to buy the best panel out there.

All help and comments appreciated!

Cheers
Ben

Despite me giving reasons as to why the X34 is clearly not, and there being a big response about it, lets just go with the X34 being best, that way I think everyone will be happy.

Wow. Did that answer seem helpful when you wrote it?

I ask as I have read conflicting opinions on review sites, with some stating that while the panels are the same there are clear benefits with both - speed vs colour depth for instance. It looks too close to call, and I am actually just wanting an honest opinion from one or more people that have witnessed both - I play games that benefit from decent fps, but 100+ isn't critical, and build quality is important to me.

Is the high htz flicker nonsense fixed with the X34A? Does the ROG visibly suffer by being the slower of the pair? These are all useful insights.

Anyone else able to give me the benefit of their experience?

Cheers
Ben

Regarding the X34a I believe it is the same panel as the x34 with a slightly improved stand (swivel and headphone hanger). Any reason why most places list this as being £100+ more than the original?

I am cool with Gsync but the whole fastsync/vsync/gsync things concerns me when spending a grand! Does it matter when I am running SLI green team anyway?

Cheers

Honestly can't comment on the whole Gsync/Freesync thing as it never bothered me a single bit.

I'm running a single 980Ti (going to SLI 980TI) and U3415W has been fantastic.

The U3415W doesn't have the "gaming" look of the X34 though, which is a big plus to me since I hate those gimmick lol

What gimmicks and 'gaming looks' do you mean. the X34 is very subtle - the stand is very effective, solid and easily height adjusted.

Why on earth do you want an extra 980Ti on that monitor when you can have a single 1070/1080 and be overkill in both scenarios? Are you going to get it for free?

Just setup my B-Grade X34, HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!, This is how your meant to play games seriously, and you know whats strange?, it just feels, 'normal' (read right), now 16:9 feels like 4:3!, this will most definitely be the norm in the future, it has to be.

It's jaw dropping isnt it. I love mine and pictures just dont do these things justice, you have to see it in the flesh.

You are right, pictures just don't convey the size of this thing!, and this is my first experience with gsync and it really is impressive, even though I've made a massive jump up in resolution games still feel very smooth, it's strange.

Looks great. :)

Thanks, have you actually got your new monitor yet, eager to see what you think of gsync?
