So what's wrong with it if you got it for a massively reduced price?

'touch wood' I can't find a lot wrong with it right now, and tbh at the price I got it I expected something, even backlight bleed is pretty minimal, seems to overclock ok, really not sure why it was only £500, I'm certainly not complaining though.

Not yet, no. It's due on the 24th, iirc. Have you played Doom much yet? :)

Only SP, honestly one of the best twitch shooters I've played probably since UT3 and Quake III Arena, and comparing it to them I feel is pretty apt as I definitely class Doom (2016) as an 'arena' shooter, the biggest appeal of this game imo is how it feels and controls, it feels very old school but not in a bad way, it controls so well it gives the player a real sense of empowerment.

Hi guys, i think i'm sold on the idea on a Super Wide monitor, they look great!

I have searched through reviews on the web and there are a few different options, but many reviews seem out of date so i need current information.

For 5-600 quid, which QHD monitor is going to suit me?

I don't play twitch games but do enjoy FPS's, and RPG's (Fallout, Witcher 3 etc)

Gsync would be amazing, but i realise this budget isnt going to get me anything close to it, so i guess 60hz is the target.

Currently gaming on a GTX 970, but that will be upgraded to a decent 3rd party GTX 1080 soon.

Any advice for that budget?

Thanks!

I really think with a budget £500-600, plus the cost of a GTX 1080, if I was in your shoes I would rather get a better super wide monitor and a GTX 1070 instead for the same cost, a monitor is something you usually keep for quite a long time, so I would prefer to invest more into that, something like the x34, with Gsync and 100Hz, it really makes a difference trust me, it's one of those things until you experienced it you don't realize how important it is, the x34's can be had for a shade under £800 atm, I'm currently running a GTX 980Ti with one and it powers it very well so a 1070 should be more than capable once it's out, or just wait a grab a 1080 a bit later on when you have enough funds.

Well there are the new 2016 models from LG such as 29um68, 34um68 and 34um88. the 68 model is 2560x1080 and the 88 model is 3440x1440 all offering upto 75hz and is verified to work with freesync from AMD but otherwise they should be fine 75hz panels. The 34um88 should cost around 600 pounds and is the one i have my own eyes on.

If you want gsync you would have to check the 2nd market most likely or get really lucky on a cheap b grade from OCUK cause they are otherwise extremely prices. You could also consider the red team and pair with with a much cheaper freesync monitor such as those listed above.

At 60Hz it's always the same:
Dell U3415W best of curved
AOC U3477PQU best of flat

I must confess I haven't read much about those new LG's mentioned above tho, if they can run at 75Hz on any card (not freesync only) than that's interesting.

having owned a Dell U3415W i would stay away from it. its IPS glow galore and suffer from some horrible pixel transition times and while you may get lucky on the glow issue and recieve one with minor or no glow the transition issue is across all units.

I managed to drop on. Was doing some browsing in Bolton and scanned it there.

I was looking at X34's originally but there it was. I jumped on it. 90 mins later they were all gone again.

Will post up pics of it tomorrow :)

Thanks for providing this comparison. Was looking for something precisely like this a couple of days ago but couldn't find anything.
