***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

I'm very tempted by the z35 for the curve, size, Gsync and 1080p res (I favour fps over res). It doesn't get much love here.

I'm just put off by the VA panel. Are the smears and low input lag really an issue?

Apart from x34a what is the next best ultra wide considering i will have 1080 card. I want something just for FPS games like bf1 , cod but ideally cheaper than 1k.

Does anyone here have the 34UM68 34" 2560x1080? I know it's a lowly res, but I've no interest in productivity and have no problem with 27" 1080p - it's all about affordable, high fps. Build quality, bleed, freesync range etc. Cheers.

How would a triple ROG SWift (TN) setup compare to an ultra wide monitor? I know it would be more pixels to push, but how would it be in terms of support for the res and general eye candy-ness?

Apologies if it's an obvious answer, I haven't dabbled with triple monitor set ups.

I'm eagerly waiting to see how a 1070 will perform with the X34. With a 980 at the moment it's definitely struggling in some AAA games, so it would be good to get that extra boost. I don't think the 1070 is going to be able to max everything at ultra, but if it gives a noticeable boost over the 980 and beats the 980Ti, I'm sold, assuming they don't get greedy with price. The 1080 would obviously be better, but that £600+ price tag is just way too much to swallow IMO.

Does Gsync not keep it smooth for you on your 980?

Anyone using one of these acer xr34 freesync monitors know what the overdrive button does? Mine is greyed out but if i activate game mode it sets it to extreme, does that sound normal?

It increases input response time or is supposed too. Once of the reviews I read showed little to no difference between normal and extreme anyway. You can manually set it to which ever you prefer after you have selected gaming mode.

Has anyone here experienced both flat and curved 34" ultrawides. The only one I've played with is the Dell - which was lovely for work - but I'm after one for gaming. Are things better/worse/same?

cant speak for everyone but im thinking curve is best for gaming, if you got on ok with the dell for work you will be fine gaming

I have a LG 34um68 on the way. Once it gets here ill be taking some pictures of the glow and backlight bleed(if any, crossing fingers) and we can see if it LG has really improved in this area. I have a feeling they have :) looking forward to give freesync a go.
