***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

How do you lot know if a game supports WQHD before you buy it? Is anyone playing old games like C&C on one? I'd imagine you'd want a small window for that, deffo not fullscreen.

Two easy ways (actually different front ends to the same way)...

In the right hand column of the Steam game page there can be 'medals' showing 21:9, 4k, etc compatibility. There is a small chance that actually this is added in by the Enhanced Steam plugin for Chrome (which is completely awesome, btw).

The other way is to go to the source, and search the game on www.wsgf.org/

Ah ok thank you for that. Tempted by a B grade Predator but worried they will be very glowy hence why they are B grade in the first place.

Glowiness is subjective. So even if the reason it's B-grade is because it's a return for having high glow, you may not notice it.

On the other hand it may be B-grade because of a damaged box. Up to you, but remember that you are well within your rights to return it if you don't like it.

Yes you are right. I had a Dell U27HM which had a yellow bottom left that glowed into the middle and a blue bottom right. They had a great policy on sending back though.

That sounds absolutely awful and a massive flaw, so i better hope they reimbursed you.

Good luck if you go for it!

Ultrawide prices are bonkers. It'll be that way for at least another year.

Get it 2nd hand. Heaps of idiots out there having to sell hardware to finance car repairs, rent, buy food, etc to negate irresponsible spending. Despite having a 34' Samsung, I've got my eye on a 2nd hand X34. Only a few months old, laid eyes on it so no BLB, confirmed it clocks to 100mhz (guy didn't even know about that) and has now already taken a near 35% cut on retail price. I'm still hanging out as I know very very few people around these parts will have the money to buy such a monitor, or be in the market for such a monitor. Happy to squeeze him further.

Well I've been converted :p

Was getting bored with my 28" 4K (too high of a PPI, Lack of SLI in some games etc).

Decided to buy an Acer X34A and I'm blown away buy how good ultrawide is, 4K was good but ultrawide is on another level with how much you feel like your in the game.

Very happy with it :D

Overclocked to 100hz no problem and no issues I can see with it so far.

I think 21:9 is hard to beat in terms of immersion. Hopefully we'll see more native support for the format in the future
