2900XT or 640GTS?

Good for you, last post here as ignoring facts are what some of you like to do the most,
2900XT produces more heat
True but hotter cards usually overclock better on more efficient cooling

and uses more power
Marginally, the difference is so little its a joke its used as a argument at all

16w or 61w which equates to £0.072 or £3.60 p month
Some people here really need a reality check now and again tbh

fan is louder,
Very true, but if you plan on really overclocking you would be using water anyway this added to the fact that fan control will eventually be added whether in the official release or in apps such as Ati Tool seeing as it is a well known fact the noise is because there are currently only 2 speed settings low and full. In addition idle the Ati is quieter than a GTS

game has less performance with AA enabled,
Plain wrong, proven countless times it is on the par/faster than a GTS in the majority of cases, just one review with the released drivers

As said in the other thread
If you are/plan on using vista get the 2900, if you are using XP then a 640GTS.

just face it, this card is a failure. It's hard for fanboys to accept but just take it like a man, the 2900 doesn't perform and drivers won't sort the AA.
You really seem to have a strange ability to ignore anything that doesnt support your argument to be honest

Why dont you trust him? because of the arguments?

Because he talks rubbish. Source engine expert, no fog issue, ATI card is completely rubbish (there's a rational statement), 1v1 game to solve the technical argument, ignoring other people's statements and just directly assaulting them, and so on.

Usually when most people get to late teens they start to have more balanced views, rather than extremely polarised one's. At the very least they can accept someone else's argument without going behind the bike sheds (geek version: 1v1).

Probably because he registered not long ago and he has a low post count. While this obviously doesn't mean a GREAT deal, there would be less risk of dealing with someone who has been here longer. If you do go through with it and something does go wrong, don't say we didn't warn you. :)

Well, do you think its ok for me to post in the MM anywere to find anyone else who is unhappy with there 2900 and wish they got an 8800, maybe there could be someone else who would go with a swap, I really would not mind a swap, to me these cards are of equal value since I payed £270 for mine.

Its a new hybrid species, Nvidia Fanboys who buy Ati cards so that they can deliberately nitpick and whine all day long

Good post, as I proved in my power requirements thread, the fact that the 2900's power consuption is used as an argument is utter tutt.

That would be the best option by far. :)

Well, I am neutral, I had ATi cards and NV cards, but if there is something wrong with the cards, something I dont like or lower performance on the 2900 when I got it compared to the 8800 then I will say.

I'll give it a try :D

Whilst I would agree power usage isn't a massive factor in what graphics card I would buy the difference between a HD2900XT and a 8800GTS is more than 'just a little'.
