I suspect thats more questionable weight figures than anything - especially as apparently the 180bhp version of the 1.8T GTI weighs 90kg more than the 150bhp version, which seems odd.

The 180bhp is the Anniversary model which among other things had a bodykit (front/rear valance, skirts + spoiler) and a 6 speed manual vs the 5 speed in the regular 150bhp model. I expect that's where most of the extra weight comes from (which is also only 50KG going by parkers figures, which is what I used to make the first comparison).

Rite, Got the G Tech out - luckily it had my 5.8 run saved in its memory. The best i could manage tonight was a 6.7 but its very slippy constant wheel spin!

5.8

6.7

Spec once again,
1.8T A3 - K03S, FMIC, Forge TIP, Airbox, Miltek Cat back, Custom Mapping. Obviously i don't know how accruate Gtech is and really CBA to argue that but its the best bit of timing equipment i have available!

I once got 0-60 in 6.2 seconds in my 530i.

And thus, my faith in G-Meters was ever destroyed.

ah :(

I might start up a datron hourly rental scheme to settle car forum arguments, maybe its the niche in the market I've been looking for

Could you do 1/2 hour? Christmas was a little expensive and just booked a holiday.

hmm potentially, takes a while to setup all the straps and suction cups! Then the time it takes your car to do 60mph, in the case of some cars mentioned here you might exceed your allocated time period!

How big was the downhill for the 5.8.

Haha all taken light heartedly - Insurance runs out on the A3 tomorrow night - I'll try get a 0-60 Vid on the phone if possible before the insurance is out!

Should have seen Rudolf towing the Veyron Simon!

Then the time it takes your car to do 60mph,

Should be ok then as i have one of these fitted and my car is awesome

6.4 seconds to 60 seems very low for a mk4 1.8t 150. Quicker than the 225 bhp Cupra R...

Best I ever managed (bearing in mind mine puts out ~265BHP at the fly) was 6.5s, G-meter timed.

i call BS on the 6.4 0-60 on a mk4 gti thats give or take a hair 2 seconds quicker than it left the factory

i'm with paradigm on this, Running a Leon Cupra R with 287bhp at the fly and i would say that would still struggle to hit 6.4 seconds to sixty and thats with a full set of polys and ap coilovers and a set of pilot sports on the front. 7.4s i would have agreed with. but your honestly saying your car with a k03 turbo and some homebrew map is launching quicker than both mine than paradigms cars and as quick as a 4wd r32?

oh and some factory figures

1.8T (180bhp) anni 7.6 seconds
1.8T (150bhp) 8.2 seconds
1.8T (225bhp) LCR 6.7 seconds

It's not about power its about traction. Soft tyres will help, LCRs have too low profile tyres ( and too big wheels) to get decent traction.

Fox. who here has claimed that gtech is in fact datron?

re read my posts, ive not once claimed the figures to be gospel, but if you read the posts i was actually using those runs to obtain a profile for the engine's output so i had a benchmark to compares any "gains" to. so, seriously, stop trying to derail yet another thread, im sure someone will be along asking about a bmw derv or a mondeo shortly
