*** 2nd March - Apple Event - Official Thread ***

lol it still weirdly annoys me how Steve Jobs dresses, but i guess he's too rich to care

On topic, i am secretly impressed, not because they have actually put the features into the Ipad2 that should have been in the first one because because all round it is now a decent buy. 2 cameras, 1 being HD, decent display, 10 hours battery, same price. So i might be purchasing since my birthday comes up shortly after the 11th. To all Ipad owners over the last year or so has your Ipad's battery suffered at all ?

I was going to sell my 32GB ipad before ipad 2 is launched but now apple have slashed the price so much i think i will just keep it. I love my ipad i think its the best gadget i have ever bought.

The only reason i wanted to sell is becuase im an android fanboy and wanted an android tablet :D

the best thing about my ipad is the amazing battery. I dont turn off my ipad i just put the screen to sleep and it will easily last a week and more. So convenant not having to have it charge every day and just pressing the power button and its there.

Its my go to device if i need to know something off the web quickly. Much quicker then booting the PC up.

I have no doubt it will be around the corner, my problem is I have no idea what it will look like and price wise.
I'm staying away a lot with work now and have been desperate for a tablet since end of the summer and have wanted a tablet for at least 4 years.

basically I'm getting too impatient to wait.
The other thing phone contract runs out in April and it will need to match the OS of the tablet. Hopfully have some more solid news by then.

Or do i get a ipad1 for £250? can't be more than that 2nd hand, keep current phone and reavaulate in june when IOS5 is announced and hopfully by then android has settled down.

Yeah I'm kinda in the same place - even to the point of trying to make my own tablet... turns out it's not that easy! Having looked into the options quite a bit and having £600 to burn I'm in a good place but being a gadget geek I refuse to throw my money away. iPad is pretty but has a limited long term appeal and/or use. ASUS Transformer on the other hand holds some promise, not only from the tablet perspective but from a travel notebook point of view with that excellent keyboard idea - 16hrs of battery!

The thing that keeps me from splurging is the storage - 128GB is my breaking point I think but it has to be around the £500 mark (being a phototog and all that...) but I really think that the combination of Andoid modded ROMs and a fantastic physical format has me pretty firmly locked on the Transformer...

I wane one because its new. Other than that I don't need one over my existing iPad at all!

Nice but no real spec changes that make me want it that much to buy!

Decent update. Nothing revolutionary.

Thin form factor is sweet, and that new smart case looks very handy but will really only seem better with iOS 5. At the moment its just what I expected (a speed bump).

Pictures on engadget look very nice.

That's ugly...

What is? That's just a bunch of numpties complaining about nothing... (similar to people who buy a netbook with a "GPU" and expect to play Crysis full whack)

High profile HD vids (even @ 720p) are massive and portable devices only support FAT32 (4GB files max) Motorola don't even claim to support high profile H.264 video.

The same people will be complaining about the iPad 2 not supporting High profile soon enough...

ye. I think IOS5 is when it will shine, the hardware has come into line with android, now they just need the updated software. They must see android as a massive threat and this instant release must be a rushed move to secure their market share. WIth IOS5 being what should be the proper release date?

I'm officially boycotting Macbreak weekly for at least 2 months. All they'll bang on about is video out and how they have preordered 2 each.

Used to listen to that podcast all the time but it got pretty boring/predictable after a while.
