3090 is NOT a gaming card - Gamers Nexus DESTROYS the 3090

Well hopefully it’s comparable to the current cards rather than last gen.

Give us something to get excited about AMD!

The card is a blessing from the professional point of view but, certainly, not so great for gaming. The really nice thing about the GPU is the extra RAM it has and that it packs a lot of CUDA cores. At work I use GV100s, but these are a tad expensive and not convenient to have in your home desktop due to a number of reasons. Since in the current situation I am working from home, I have been stucked with the 2080Tis and their 11Gb since March. This one, however, will be a game changer: something with 10000 cores and 24Gb will make such a huge difference, and it is still much cheaper than the Titan. Personally speaking, I am very happy about the 3090 release and I cannot wait for it :) Gaming wise, I like to play Brutal Doom, the 2080s are fine for that :p

For those in the professional space it's about 100% faster than Turing cards and 24gb is nice, 48gb would be even better but 24gb is nice enough

More than likely there will be a proper Ti version coming out later with more vram. Gotta milk the early suckers for the midrange version first.
I don’t think you can call early adopters suckers. The 3080Ti (if there is one), will be a little faster and have more VRAM but will probably cost £300 extra. You make our choice. For most gamers, the 10GB of the 3080 will be plenty for a long time yet. Just my opinion of course.

It's double the 5700xt

it should be faster than the 2080ti, don't know how much faster but definitely faster than the 2080ti

If the CU count does scale it should be around 20% faster than a 2080 Ti, Put architectural improvements on top and we could very well see a 3080 competitor, It's not outside the realms of possibility especially as AMD did say RDNA will do for their GPU's what Zen did for their CPU's.

When I saw the rtx 3090 announcement... I straight away understood that card is dlss 8k not native 8k... so thats why I bought. It match my need which I play games as in my head I'm using the 3080 and same time I need that performance for video editing ...etc

I didn’t order the 3090 For its value, I ordered it because money is no object and I wanted the best that money could buy - that is the 3090
I is not much quicker than the 3080, but it is quicker, more importantly it has a decent amount of memory and will breeze through 4K which is what it was purchased for.
I’ll say again - I didn’t buy it for the value - I bought it because I like having the very best and I have very deep pockets

Fair play mate, honestly it really blows my mind how people are acting towards those who are buying the 3090. I'm buying a 3090 and game at 1440p on an 7700k lol. Money is tighter due to reductions at work but I've saved and I'm going to buy the card which should last me a good few years and will be a good upgrade over my 1080ti.

Those with deep pockets earned, generally don't flaunt it. Either you're lying, or a drug dealer. No other options.
Money being no object doesn't necessarily mean you're loaded. Could just be that the person attributes little value to the accumulation of wealth and would rather see their money used on things

In the finances department I'm fairly average, Not poor, Not rich, But comfortable, However I do know a fair few people who have got Mary Poppins bag type deep pockets and they all share 1 attribute, None of them flaunt it and it is never a talking point.

The reason is simple, You have no business buying a 3090 just for gaming, the benchmarks prove that.

Those who do, are only interested in it as a status symbol, a trophy item, using them just to brag about having the means to get one, on places like this...as the post above this one, shows all too well.

BS, who are you to tell someone they have no right to buy a 3090 for any purpose?

Even if he bought it on credit, it is none of your concern.

I was going for the 3090FE but after the 80/90 launch ballsup I will just sit and wait on a 3090Ti/Super in months if they arrive.

I have a Titan Xp (2017), I did not get a 2080Ti as do not need each new gen (can skip 1 or 2) and I do not rate the 2000 series period.

Mate, not that you care nor is this a sympathy thing but my brother was diagnosed with two rare forms of cancer 18 months ago, when he went to hospital they thought he was going to die over night, he literally can die at any moment they are that rare they just don't know, he never bought the best PC and always run his machine on a budget even though he had the money to do so. It wasn't until he nearly died that he pulled the trigger and got a PC that far supersedes what he will ever need and it's brought so much joy to him(Hell he doesn't even go in to the game settings to tinker with graphic settings lol.) You can't take your money with you when you die and it's put things in perspective, I never want to have a what if, I never want to be in that position, I will always buy the best I can afford with my PC even if it's overkill. You're a long time dead.
