30xx Series Founders Edition

Not desperate, but wish I could play ray traced games since months ago.

3070 Ti isnt worth the upgrade just like the whole RTX 2000 series wasn't.

It could make for cheap side step depending on how much my 1080 Ti would sell for, but then I would need an upgrade within a year and would be locked out from doing so.

I can just delay ray traced even further instead.

Understandable, and true.

Your not making sense. If you buy an FE of the 30 series you will be able to buy one only from the vendor. You can still buy AIB cards from any retailer.

When a 40 series releases if there was any 'one per person' lock it would reset for that gen..

Yeah when I saw how much the 3090 was going for I was tempted but then figured what will I use instead? An old 970 or something and wait how long? It's tempting to earn a grand though, save it and slum it with an old card until prices/supply return to normal but who knows how long that will be and can I be bothered!?

My friend sold his a few weeksback for £1840 now he is using his vega 64 and banked the rest for the 40 series

That's a long term gamble - even before the crypto the cards were difficult to get hold of and were being scalped. Good luck to him but for me I dont think this is worth the 440 quid he made

He paid £700 last year so thats £1180 profit

It is for sure. Its well over a year away till the hype but this time round there are component shortages. Only positive is many people will have got fatigue in securing an Ampere card and wont be eager to upgrade in a hurry.

3080 tbh I didn't make myself clear

I'd second ray-tracing not being that big a deal. Used correctly by Devs it's very subtle. Used incorrectly and everything looks like it's made out of chrome. You probably "feel" it more with accurate reflections but to be honest I kind of forget it's there almost instantly and toggling it on and off in RE Village I don't really miss it. I think it's pretty useful for creatives though.

GeForce RTX™ 3080Ti FOUNDERS EDITION - £1,318.99

No thanks

now edited to £1,049.00

still No thanks

Seem to randomly change the price everytime you come in via the Nvidia website..

Pre-scalped for ease, I'm a hard pass on that, will wait for another 3080FE drop, if we have one and I'm in the country at the time as I've missed the last 3...

I'm out, AM5 and whatever GPU matches at the time. Can't see a point in upgrading now.
