30xx Series Founders Edition

Tried to get a 3080ti today, no luck. Instead, got a 3090 FE in the afternoon stock drop :)

No brainer when I can sell my 3080 on the bay for more than I paid for the 3090 FE (even after ebay fees). Crazy times, though not going to miss out on a paid upgrade!

On your 3090 order page, do you have an option to cancel the order?

I was too busy with other things after the 80Ti drop and missed the ******* 3080FE drop, FML, the first time I've been in the bloody country when they have dropped as well

They sure made a solid attempt to keep these 3080 Ti FEs away from scalpers:

Disclaimer - this is not at all a recommendation of any competitors, I'm pretty much peeved that so many have ended up being scalped.

IMHO Nvidia ought to temporarily stop sending GPUs to AIBs and use all the chips they have for FEs.

That might encourage more scalping though. The reason scalpers like the FE and MBA models bought direct is the lower price which allows them to turn more profit.

This is where we ourselves become part of the problem. Pick up an FE card at RRP then sell an FE card at scalping prices (anything over whst you paid). I get it, who would walk away from easy money. But still, we cant moan too hard about scalpers existing when we reinforce whats going on. Note. Im not saying youve moaned about scalping

IF you sell your 3080 on the bay what you going to do when some scummy muppet refunds it in 6 months and sends you a brick?
I just can't trust that site any more for high value items, too many scammers/idiots/bad people.

People are really keen though

I'll only sell to someone with at least 50+ positive feedback, who has been a member for at least 2 years. That alone will filter out the majority of scammers. That said, any return I'd receive I'd video myself collecting and opening the package, so I could upload this to ebay as proof.

Sold my Radeon VII on the bay over 6 months ago, for double what I'd get on the MM here. No issues, though I did refuse the first buyer (brand new account, no feedback) and had to relist the item, so set me back a week, though worth it.

Mugs edition finally succumbed! :)

Exactly, I lucked out with landing a 3080 last week and was so tempted to get an instant up to £1k profit if I scalped it but I didn't want to be one of those guys.
Basically this is tragedy of the commons all over.

Ye and i get it, lets say for whatever reason your struggling financially if its between scalping to keep a roof over your head and not scalping and losing your house - fair enough. Majority tho is just cashing in and getting a free upgrade

I don’t blame the scalpers, at the end of the day we live in a capitalise society.

Blame those who are paying the extortionate prices, they ultimately create the market. At the end of the day something is worth what someone is willing to pay and if someone is willing to pay £1500 for a £650 product, there will always be someone there willing to fill that segment of the market. It’s a luxury item that has very few ‘essential’ purposes so there isn’t really much justification to put heavy regulation around it.

I wouldn't blame buyers either since we've all been indoors for a year.

I dont know, we are talking about getting high frame rates on mid to hugh settings. Nobody NEEDS that. Im sure there are some that do need the GPUs for work, and they just have to buy, but id guess the majority paying hand over fist for what i described. I mean really if you have a 1080 or better, you should just be sitting it out.

I agree on the supply and demand thing, i just cant comprehend people payong scalper pricrs for a small quality of life increase. Maybe if your 50+ and the kids have moved out.and you have cash lying around though your happy to pay whatever the price. I suppose similar to ppl who buy a new car every year, eat the depreciation then buy another. There will always be that element of the market

Yeap. Once my 3090 FE arrives and I've tested it to be 100% okay, I'll simply be listing my 3080 for sale on the bay, bid style. Let the market decide how much it's worth. Last few sold for £1650+...

If you're stuck at home for a year then paying £800, £1k more for a top-end gfx card is fair game to me considering the extra frames this generation. I understand it and I likely would have ended up doing it myself if discord hadn't worked out within say 2-3 months of trying.
