But they weren't , they were quite plausibly Chinese thus the Police contacted the Chinese Embassy and the media has reported that initial line of enquiry... now it turns out several (or perhaps even all) may be Vietnamese.

Might be wrong, but I think the guy is Protestant, from a mainly Protestant town, Portadown.
Not remotely bandit country, you’d have to go ten miles south for such.
Might well be links to organised crime, as they gave their hands in all pies, but I don’t think this guy is a republican.
Again, might be proven wrong.

Is 90% Protestant. That's a Unionist Politician talking about the family. The name Robinson is generally a Protestant name.
That could be all coincidental of course.

Then again crime doesn't have to affiliated to anyone. This guy might even be a fall guy. We know nothing.
 
LOL at people making links to the IRA, when IF there's terrorists involved, it's more likely to be UVF 'loyalist' terrorists.
 
I really don’t know how he can be held accountable if he never knew they where in there, sounds like he’s just the driver.

are lorry drivers supposed to check their goods themselves in and out and do a stock check or something like that?

He’s been charged with manslaughter, people trafficking and immigration offences and finally money laundering. That’s a number of offences to take to the CPS, especially the last one, so sounds like he’s far from an innocent party.

Whats the source for him being a Rangers fan or a protestant? I would have assumed most protestant Rangers Fans in NI would use a Union Jack and would call themselves British.

While I don't think this is IRA material, I still think the precise timing of this event is political. BoJo and his rich boys are using this tragedy as a cover so that they can work silently behind the scenes while we mourn and so run down the clock to 31st October to a no-deal.
 
Sounds like it could well be IRA (or dissident versions of it) and/or Irish Republican gangsters - I think @Uther was just jumping on board with his "LOL" after a couple of other posters posted something that would seemingly contradict that.
 
When you have a (ex)DUP Councillor talking about him, it's still confusing, god knows, we'll find out at some point.

Could just be your bog standard non-affiliated criminal, maybe his charges won't stick.

Dunno the broader details but ours the trailer is sealed and usually padlocked and while the driver has they key in case of inspections, etc. they aren't supposed to open up and should report if seal details don't match or are tampered with. Normally the driver pickup and drops off the trailer and someone else checks the contents in and out.

If this is the case I really don't know how he would be guilty. The question to me is - why did he open the truck to report the bodies if he didn't require to open it and have the police found a payment paper trail involving him in any way.
