580 GTX Price is up....

i'm not a fanboy but surely the nvidia cards are overpriced judging by performance difference over amd cards, sure the price can be higher because it's better.. but that much higher? i say bs, they overcharge too much just because they are a bit better

Although it is widely accepted by ATI that they made a mistake with the pricing of them at launch and could/should have been much higher

Top end enthusiast parts are always very poor value (fps/£), you pay a premium to have the best.

This. Same applies to Nvidia and ATI. Look at the last round of cards.

GTX480 only 15% faster than a gtx470 but costs 50% more?

5870 only 10% faster than a 5850 and costs 50% more?

Neither top end card had any value.

Same with the 6970 and gtx580. If you want that extra 10 to 15% performance, it will always cost you proportional more.

Which is why xfire and sli are so appealing despite glitches. You will be able to buy two gtx470's for the price of one gtx580 and I am pretty certain they will blow the gtx580 out of the water.

I have my two gtx470's sat here waiting to do comparisons with the new gtx580 :D

Lol I can see it now, Nvidia and the crytek devs all huddled round Crysis 2 notching up the tesselation factor until the 6970 is on it's knees. Nvidia marketing dude: 'Yep that setting will do just fine guys thanks'

SO it's going to be delayed so long that ATI will have their 7 series cards out? Really good marketing ploy by Nvidia. They get crysis 2 optimised so it runs best on a gtx580 over a 6970 and then ATI have a more powerful 7970 and it's all been a waste.

I doubt the tessallation has improved on the 580 over the 480, so I expect it's just being modified for fermi, and the 580 reference is a cover. $2 on marketting = tailor it for us. I'm sure all those car's and building's will need a lot of tessallation lol ;-) Smacks of 'ati didn't really improve tessallation that much, let's try and screw them over.' (TBH, I really wouldn't be surprised if AMD tried to do the same if they were in the same position.)

Stupid move to say it's the 580 anyway, as hardly anyone will have a 580 which means you negatively affect the vast majority of gamers. Love to see more tessellation in games by the way as long as it's not pointlessly used.

Not sure if it's been posted yet but there's a watercooled version coming right on the heels of the 580 launch. See here. No doubt this will be super expensive.

It's getting boring and annoying - all this ATI is better then Nvidia, Nvidia is better then ATI crap. Enough already.

Crysis = Poorly coded, boring 1 person shoot em up......:confused:

Ahead of its time, more like ahead of Cryteks programming skills....

Crysis2 = console coded with additional DX11 addon........:confused:
