5800x3D upgrade

Thanks, I would be coming from a 5800x, I am still thinking about the upgrade. It would depend on the price I can get a 5800x3d for, as the performance boost would be minimum.
Probably best to see what the 5700X3D's land at as they're due soon, might be £30/40 cheaper with same core count :)

I noticed a big jump going from a 5900x to a 5800x3d, but I guess it depends on your use case, I would highly recommend!
Thanks, cheaper than buying a complete new AM5/DDR5 system. I keep a eye on the price of the 5800x3d could drop, as suggested by "roachyuk" I could sell my 5800x to offsets the cost.

I could sell my 5800x to offsets the cost. That's exactly what I did, I think I went 5600X, 5800X, 5800X3D. Yes I know that's probably not recommend lol. However, it didn't really cost that much,
and I suppose it's a 'hobby' :D

Bought a 7900xt instead but now I'm thinking I should have gone 5800x3d instead.

Most of the games I play seem to be more CPU bound so I'm not noticing a huge difference from the 7900.
5800x3d will be next on the list then :) get a good water cooler on it, it runs a bit hotter

I've got a custom loop on my 5600 just now, bit overkill for that but I can say I was preparing for future upgrades......Honestly though I had most of it laid aorund and only needed a block.

I'm sort of torn, I have a decent enough setup apart from the 5600, do I upgrade to 5800x3d or go full mobo/RAM/7600x (or whatever chip) for the longer run? It's not a huge price difference by the time I sell my stuff and go 7xxx is it?

i am using a Noctua NH-D15 with my 5800X with no issues, people indicate that the 5800x3d run hotter.

Would I have any problems with this cooler.

I'm still undecided whether to go for a 5800x3d or go balls out and get the 7800x3d
Similar position. I've got no other real need to go higher but the 5800x3d's don't seem to be dropping in price much. 5900X to 5800x3d is probably more or less a "wash" price wise. Rather more tempted with an "equal power" laptop to replace this all at the moment but the 7800x3d routes tempting too.
It's a lot of hassle ditching all this though as there's a good sized water loop included too.
