5870 Vantage result...

I think in terms of AA it's just that they've got tons of raster power to spare because AMD gave them 32 ROPs (half this amount managed to keep up with the 32 ROPs in the GTX2x0 series in terms of AA performance) in anticipation of them powering stupidly high resolutions thanks to Eyefinity. It's not that they're CPU limited, it's more they're everything that isn't raster operations limited at any resolution lower than insanexstupid.

I suppose yeah, that makes sense. Increasing the res doesn't reduce performance as much as some people expect really.

It's the AA at the increased res that eats performance.

I would have expected more?

My GTX260 gets:

I don't change any CPL settings, some people set everything to performance in ati/nvidia control panel which is cheating....

My ATI CCC was reset to default settings before these, the GPU score is the one to compare as the CPU is massively scewed by physx.

Here's street fighter 4 free benchmark:

Another thing I have noticed and maybe the reason for my below par performance in W7 is the fact the GPU usage shown in the MIS afterburner software is always around 16%, now if this is the same when I load up a game, the game is getting 84% of the GPU to play with and not the full 100%. In XP GPU usage whilst on desktop is always 0. I have tried disabling areo but its just the same...go figure.

Nice results m8, these cards rock big time. Fixed my W7 performance issue, check my vantage score out now.:D it was the MSI afterburner software and the on screen display server causing the FPS drop, as soon as I disabled the server the card performed as it should.

Possible stupid question, but what is this "on screen display server" that resulted in FPS drop?

Thanks

Its the utility that comes with the MIS afterburner overclocking software, it lets you monitor your temps, volts, GPU/MEM in game with an on screen display.

Anyone got three monitors hooked up?
I plan on running three 22" when I can get an active adapter. If anyone can post temps of the card or FPS of any game on three 22"s I will decide whether its worth my while (and cash) to upgrade
Thanks.
