****7950 (disabled) BOOST BIOS thread****

hi all, I've read most of the posts on this thread and tbh its way over my head some of you guys are wizards with your PCs. My main reason to post is I recently bought one of these cards and tbh when I play bf3 it runs sloth as silk so I don't over clock. Now I've come in to some cash so I was going to get another card and go crossfire but I've read some nightmare posts on here about theses cards and crossfire. I f I got another card would I have to do this bios flash thing or would theses cards work OK straight out of the box. I really am not very good at techy stuff so if its gonna be an hassle I might just spend my cash on a new monitor instead. Any help would be much appreciated

I had loads of help from folks on here and tried various methods but never got a satisfactory Crossfire experience. Loads of folk say they do, though, so might just be luck of the draw. I've just gone single GPU (GTX 780) and am actually blown away by how smooth and easy the experience is compared to Crossfire.

Bottom line is Crossfire brings you a tonne of power but you have to be prepared for all the tinkering to get a good experience. Whether you should Crossfire or not come down to that IMO.

Kaboom just finished baking me my official his bios ;)

24/7 default clocks :

1070/1400 @1080v *very low voltage*
50% powertune unlocked
Boost Disabled

Whats great about this is the vcore voltage 1080v @1070 ;)
also all my ports work on my cards now incl hdmi 1.4 spec :D
and also msi afterburner works i tested it by changing the voltage to 1150v and it worked ;)

There you go ..... just remember voltage is based on your asic.

note* if your going to change voltage with these bios`s use trixx or something else, msi does not work even though it applies, its not registered
i thought it worked until i checked gpuz lol

hey, iv got the gigabyte windforce 7950 with asic quality of 63.4, voltage locked @ 1.25V. Can i use this? I have the 2 switches on the gpu, so if the update failes i can just switch the switch and everything is ok?

Temps are maxing out atm at 70-75C so its not that hot, but i dont know, i just wanna play a little :P. Increasing even 50mhz on this cards freezes whole system, so sitting at 1ghz..

I give a link to kahboom's thread, the first link is to his thread so please read before you ask...

ViRuS2k, What ASIC is your card? My card is 79.8%, 1070/1500 the voltage from the BIOS (the lower voltage one, gave a link on 1st page) is 1.093-1.115v. Temps around 59-61c fan speed 57-61% depending on the temp.
If you could upload that BIOS here it would be great. After 3-4 weeks when I comeback will give this a try.

EDIT:

Last days the temperature in the Sun was 46-47c and in the shadow it was 35-37c. It's been a week now with these temps, I hope this will chanage. I can imagine what temps my PC would run during weather like this...

I get about the same as you
but im using another modified official his bios that kaboom did for me with 1120/1450 clocks
whats intresting this bios i told him to modify it with 1138v as my cards do not run stable at 1120 with much less voltage.

then i look at gpuz for some reason VDDC is showing 1.080v - 1.086v fluctuates between the 2 lol
no way my cards should be stable at those voltages with the clocks im running but i have stressed the hell out of them and there stable no crashes, msi afterburner shows 3d is running at 1.138v but clearly gpuz is showing much lower.

who is right lol
anyway i consider 80c the maximum limit temp on 7 series cards so if your under those temps then nothing at all to worry about.

i was hitting temps of 82c after a half hour of dayz. ive ramped up the fan a little and think i may have the temps down to just under 80c. i give up on checking the voltage every app has a different story lol.
@ jonny chee i use the bios to take away the boost function and stop my card running on 1.25v. with the boost bios my temps wud be the same but clocks 925/1250

Bit of a pain as I have 1 card with 82.3 ASIC and another with 69.3 lol

I guess I should use one that's best for the lower quality so slightly higher volts.

Which one would be a good one for that as a starting point chaps?

The BIOS is like an update to your standart Boost bios which adds on couple features, the voltage depends on what ASIC is your card. You don't have to do anything except flashing to have a fully working HIS card without any unuseful junk...

Yeah so I think I probably have to aim for one to work with the lower ASIC (my newer card :(). I'm thinking the bios Ltmatt is using will prob be the best to try first?
