8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

How many people are going to have the kit to run 4GHz?

A lot?

You need a 2500K or above to stand a chance of winning though. And whoever has a 2500K or above, and a high end board, will undoubtedly get the best score. How do they need an upgrade exactly? They will probably just sell the new gear on, new and sealed. I know I would.

There is also the possibility of cheating as well. There are a-lot of dab hands at photoshop on here, all we need is one of them to be a little bit dishonest, and they have potentially won.

If I won with a 2500K, I'd be selling the 2500k for the 4770K set up lol.

my uncore/NB can't go higher than about 2.6GHz without causing system to not post :( probably something to do with using 8GB ram sticks on a 1366 system.

4ghz is pretty standard on most cpu's theese days, ram frequency/timings plays a pretty important part in 32m. I saw decent gains going from 8gb of corsair vengeance at 1600mhz to 8gb of samsung green at 2133mhz.

Thats exactly what I thought Stulid. This comp I wanted to be about system and memory tweaking and not CPU power. hence the 4ghz which I honestly though most could achieve.

a lot of other forums do 5ghz but I deemed that too elitist. I dont think 4.oghz on AMD or anything SB or beyond is difficult at all. I want people to enter!!!

quit complaining about it and just dont bother to enter.

I hope you dont watch sports because more often than not its the people with the best kit who win.

If it was lowest time, on any kit with any configuration I could see peoples grievances.

But it is limited to 4GHz and thus shows who can get the MOST from a 4GHz clock, which leaves other things than JUST core frequency alone to play with. The sort of people who will enter this should be able to attain a 4GHz clock very easily with almost all of the last few years worth of kit. You do not need to be cutting edge.

+1

I think people should give it a go

This is a comp where the intel hexcores are at a disadvantage and unlikely to win, this gives other people the opportunity to win.:)

Yes but the point is, the person who enters with the best setup at 4GHz is obviously going to win.

A 4GHz Phenom II superPI score is hardly going to compare to a 4GHz 3970X score is it? It's not about "lots of CPU's can do 4GHz".

well ive got my time :D 10m 36s, won't bother posting screenies as its not going to be a winning time :P

I'm going to have a crack with exactly that though Acme a 4Ghz Phenom II.

If I come anything but last I will be happy. 955BE, gigabyte 880-gm-ud2h and OCZ Plat 1600mhz.

I'll have a go at this, entering for fun knowing i wont be able to win either way. 4Ghz is pretty easily attainable even with older kit. Somebody with an IB rig should win this though :D

I own a 3970X, I also know whatever I do to it @4.0ghz I am not going to win, this has got to be a good thing.:)

The key here is not about times always its about learning to tweak the system and in the process gaining valuable knowledge into your own system and possible perf improvements.

I am on Socket 1156 with my i5 760 and can do 4.0Ghz easily with Super Pi 32M but no way am I able to get times to compete with SandyBridge, Ivybridge & Haswell no matter how much tweaking.

So this really is only for those on the above setups with unlocked cpu's.

If there was comps though for different platforms I would definitely be giving it a go and tweaking to get the best Socket 1156 time.

May well give it a go anyway to see if I can tweak my setup better than I have done before.

Good luck to those with systems able to compete.

What else is there to tweak aside from memory timings? I have a lot to learn. :D
