8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Instead set a lower time as a target to hit. This will require just as much knowledge about overclocking and tweaking because you will have to be carefully adjusting your speeds and timings, but you will get more attention and entries because it is a feat that far more people would be able to achieve.

That's a ridiculously good idea.

Maybe the winner should give his existing core system to someone with a slightly worse one, and so on, so everyone gets an upgrade? :D

If it was lowest time, on any kit with any configuration I could see peoples grievances.

But it is limited to 4GHz and thus shows who can get the MOST from a 4GHz clock, which leaves other things than JUST core frequency alone to play with. The sort of people who will enter this should be able to attain a 4GHz clock very easily with almost all of the last few years worth of kit. You do not need to be cutting edge.

Yes you do. A 4Ghz 3570k is faster than a 4Ghz 2500k all else being equal. Both would destroy an AMD CPU. Same applies if you already have much better RAM to begin with.

I appreciate them putting competitions on but this really is only for people that already have the best kit. I won't stand a chance with the RAM that I use.

The majority of people here have Steam installed, right? I know a hell of a lot of people have Steam installed, but it does make you think, most people who can run 4GHz Stable, would do right?

Well said. Again.

Well you lot just keep arguing about it and don't enter, that way theres more chance that ill do well. :D

here's my first submission with a totally unoptimised system, assuming we are allowed more than one entry when we improve our times. (it didn't say only one entry per person so I assume that it is ok to improve)

already a minute behind Tonester oh well. :D I am sure there is much tweaking I can do

Only .38% run 3.7Ghz+
I think they're taking the clock from stock, not overclocked. So a very popular 920 would show 2.66Ghz, 3930k would be 3.2Ghz so on and so forth.

Why not drop the 4GHz requirement so more people can enter?
I realise people will probably say that this means things aren't even, but are they anyway?
Does a Phenom II @ 4GHz have a chance against a 3770K @ 4GHz? I think AMD chips were notoriously bad in SuperPi?
Also wouldn't someone that had splashed out on 2800MHz Corsair Dominator RAM (for example) have a better chance than someone with 1333MHz Corsair XMS3?

So realistically this is for people with an IvyBridge CPU and some decent RAM? And they'll win a Haswell and some decent RAM?

Or maybe I've misunderstood as overclocking in general and specifically memory tweaking isn't my area?

You're technically winning as i never bothered to change my wallpaper lol, so my entry is invalid. There's hope for you yet! If everyone continues to moan about never having a chance, you might win :D

Edit: Kaap ruined your chance! Damn you Kaap! :D

I think my score is very easy to beat, it's all in the settings.;)

hehe your right, yours doesn't count and kaapstad is only half a minute ahead.

Now how many volts do I shock the hamster with to get a better time without killing him

Well I'm giving it a go anyway. 3.96GHz @ 1.54V and i passed the 9 minute mark at loop 12. Still going now which is a feat in its own right, as I've never gotten it to be stable above 3.7GHz. This is especially good considering it's an early C2 stepping. I'll still get trashed even by someone even with a nehelams let alone sandy or ivy.
