8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

There should be different competitions for each type of CPU (Phenom II, FX, Sandy, Ivy, Hassy etc) and then the top score for each should be compared to see not which was the fastet, but which was the most impressive for that platform. IMO.

If its about memory tweaking then that's me out. I tried with 8pack overclocking my memory and it just blue screened and failed to post if it was set anything above 1600mhz :(. You really need a good IMC in your cpu to beat this.

I've got no hope of entering as my phenom II can't reliably exceed 3.7GHz :( Although even if i did manage to get it up to 4GHz i'd still get spanked by anyone with something more modern as it took over 19 minutes last time i ran the test.

THIS is exactly what the problem is here...

Nobody else sees that?

If Kei and I both entered and my time was faster, would that make me more deserving of the prize? No.

Here, might as well be the first to enter.
4Ghz 3930k, with 2133 ram. I'll be able to get lower times, obviously but nothing as low as a well tuned IB should be able to get.

So how would you suggest 8-Pack ran the competition then?

Fastest time at a clockspeed achievable by many seems fair to me.

Hi 5, sad phenom II bro :(

The same way a previous overclocking comp was run on this forum. You can't just go for the fastest score because only the most modern CPUs will hit it. I'm not too in-tune about all things like efficiency and IPC, but I know that there was a time when AMD CPUs were far more efficient than Intel CPUs, even when the AMDs ran at a lower clock speed. Surely its going to be the same here. Just because all the CPUs are running at 4Ghz, newer CPUs are more efficient, have higher IPC and thus can simply score higher without any tweaking required.
Instead set a lower time as a target to hit. This will require just as much knowledge about overclocking and tweaking because you will have to be carefully adjusting your speeds and timings, but you will get more attention and entries because it is a feat that far more people would be able to achieve.

rjk is already ****ed off at me for pointing flaws, but I'll continue to do so, someone who can throw money at a rig and therefore be able to win, shouldn't be given it, someone who's struggling to find money to spend on a PC and would really be able to make use of the prize should win.

it's a competition not a charity. Isn't it? :p
