How about taking the costs for the prize and splitting it so each socket has a chance?

That would be more fair as people can compete with Bulldozer and Piledriver also then. The prize money could then be used as an upgrade. Someone with the prize setup is most likely to win, so why would they need 2 identical setups?

It's just a brilliant platform for this kind of test, so many options with regards to base and strap :D

I'll put this hyperx theory to bed tonight too, checked some old screens, best I've had them is 11-12-11-1T 2407mhz. Which is perhaps slightly better then my ripjaws 10-12-12-2T.

Edit: top tip to everyone, run 101 base with a 40x multi, will give you the 101% limit of 4040mhz ;)

since I already had my cpu at 4GHz, I thought I'd give it a couple of runs, got 8.43 with 40x100, 1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2t, which was what I was running already. Might try to tighten timings over the weekend if I get time, still not going to get near the top, but I've never really taken the time to learn to tweak memory.

my GF has a 3570k and 8GB samsung green, which she says I'm free to try on, so long as I replace anything I blow :)
 
Very honest of you :)

Tbh the last thing you want is to **** off someone the size of 8 pack, he's likely to take any cheats and suplex them into the sun :p
