8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Would Sammy Greens not clock that high on Haswell? I haven't heard anything about them on 1150 yet.

First attempt! Not especially tweaked yet. I think my Avexir may let me down a litle :(

How about some of this? Runs at over 2800 with no voltage increase?

http://www.overclockers.com/gskill-tridentx-ddr3-2666-memory-review

They got 2944Mhz with 11-13-13-35 timings.

Or these:

http://www.overclockers.com/gskill-tridentx-ddr32600-cl10-ram-kit-review/

Ran the same as the 2666 kit with the same timings overclocked at 2940 but did 10-12-12-31 at 2800 and 9-11-11-28 at 2600

Hmm... they look interesting. Hard to find a trustworthy UK supplier though. On paper they're not quite as fast as the Teamgroup sets at rated settings, but there are very few reviews overclocking the Teamgroup chips, so who knows that they can be pushed to.

Regarding the Teamgroup chips... the 2600Mhz C10 set states explicitly that they use 1T, whereas the 2400Mhz C9 set does not mention command rate (so presumably 2T?). Do you think this tips the balance back towards the 2600Mhz set?

edit: The 2400Mhz set is definitely 2T, and it seems they did not overclock well at all... (I found a review)

2600MHz with 2T-11-11-30 at 1.73v did manage to boot into Windows but the system was extremely unstable

They were using Ivy though, so perhaps the IMC was not able to handle it?

Those 2400Mhz c9 at 2T dont seem good. There are so many ram chips which will do 1T at those timings and speed I can't see worth getting.

I would try and find some gskill tbh. You know from the overclocking review that they will do 1T 9-11-11-28 at 2600Mhz.

Better reviews of the gskill here

He seemed to get to great tight timings from them at stock voltage and with a massive overclock to boot!

Summary

If you follow my posts on the forums, you'll find that I consider myself one of Corsair's biggest fans, but those feelings were thrown completely out of whack when I received this kit from G.Skill. The G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to completely amaze me with its quality and clocking ability, and I fell in love after checking its price. You cannot find a 4x 4GB 2666 MHz kit for less right now unless it's been put on sale. This kit manages to overcome any performance deficiencies with flexibility and great overhead. At stock, I managed to beat out my trusty Corsair Dominator Platinum kit with a little bit of tweaking. Overclocked, the G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to go just as high without a boost in voltage. That is just outright fantastic.

Perhaps ask ocuk to get some in?

I just bought a pair of TG 2400 C9
They are 1T not 2T

9,11,11,28 1T default XMP profile 2400

Running now at 9.11.11.21 1T 2400

Perhaps if you cant get them some Corsair Platinum Dominators would be the next best thing?

Interesting results on the superpi 32m charts.

2400 9-11-11-31 beats 2666 10-12-12-31 by 0.5 secs. looks like with modern memory and cpus, tight timings are more important than in my q9650 and i7 days. It needed 2750Mhz with the slacker timings to beat the 2400 score albeit it did by 5 secs.

On that basis then, I will revise my post of earlier and say that obviously increasing the frequecy by 10% is totally wiped out by slacking the timings by 10%. Surprised by that tbh.

Obviously the gskill are still better as they will do 1T 9-11-11-28 at 2600Mhz and the corsair will only do 2400Mhz at those timings or need 10-12-12-31 to run at 2600

Hmm... I'll think about my options I guess. Thanks for all your advice though - really appreciate it :)

The Corsair dominator 2666 can be found for £133, with UK shipping, but if 10-12-12-31 is about the best they can manage at 2600Mhz, then I may as well go for the TG kit from OcUK, for £100, as that's their default rated speed.

I could get the G.Skill 2666 set for about £120 or so, but they'd be shipped from abroad and it would probably take a week or so. The rest of my gear will arrive Thursday and I'm keen to get cracking with it all. I suppose I can use my existing RAM in the meantime though (some 2000Mhz C9 XMS3 that I bought as a 6Gb triple channel kit for x58 - I would only use 4Gb obviously).

By the way, I noticed that G.Skill just announced a 32Gb 3000Mhz kit (!!) - see here. That's some damn fast memory!

That new G skill memory looks good. I reckon in next few weeks we will see more 3000Mhz memory appearing.

You arte right about getting the TG kit over the Corsairs, just a shame the gskill stuff wasn't more easily available. That does seem to be the best memory atm. Been able to do 2800/2900 without any voltage increase is very impressive.

Looking at the charts I reckon the g skill with the tighter timings would be around 5 seconds faster than the TG or the corsair.

Yeah, it's a shame that OcUK don't stock much in the way of G.Skill. OcUK have one of (if not THE) the most comprehensive selections of memory in the UK, yet very little of the G.Skill - which it seems is the memory of choice for many serious overclockers.

Yeah its odd. The fastest gskill memory they sell is only 1600Mhz. For a company which has about 8 memory kits faster than that, for ocuk not to sell them seems strange.

However, finding anobdy selling high end gskill in the uk is hard

Okay - ordered a set of the G.Skill TridentX 2600Mhz C10 from Germany. Estimated delivery window is anywhere between June 10th and July 1st (!!). It damn well better get here before the 30th :p Hopefully it will - most of the review comments for the site mentioned that delivery was quick, and it's not a large package.

OcUK - Stock some more G.Skill products please!

Thanks again Greebo...

I cant crack it at 2400 :(

Made little difference 2133 > 2400
Least ways at 4Ghz, 5Ghz was a different story

Seems whatever I do with memory timings and speed always end up close to 8 minutes. The wrong side of 8 minutes I should say.

Will carry on but I have tweaked the efficiencies, 8 pack speak, as much as I am able.
