8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

We'll have our own sub 8 minutes battle, I've just managed a run which is 0.02 seconds slower than yours.

Agonisingly close.

You mean it's on :)

Not sure I want to go down the road of stripped down OS, disabled services and totally unstable settings than can only run SP.
Or do I ?

At least unplug ethernet cable and disabled other applications and service and give it another go :D

I am using my Gaming PC.
Don't really want to wreck the OS.

I will unplug the HD's and use a different one for any further benching.
Then I can go a bit cavalier with timings and such without any harm.

Hehe, I haven't tried any OS tweaks yet, not sure how much time I would gain by doing them though.

I think windows xp would chop a lump of my times though, might search around the house for an old copy......

Maybe... but that's still some damn good value RAM!

Less than half the price of the kit I just ordered, and only 200Mhz slower (and with tighter timings to boot). Of course nobody knows how much further it will clock - very few reviews of the TG kits out there...

edit - Nice one PCZ :) Seems like 8mins is the big-leagues standard for Ivy bridge... What memory kit are you using?

Well at that price I can't complain - just hit the order button :)

I may be sourcing a 3570k to go with it too - I know Haswell will probably win but its about the fun of entering the competition and having a go :) hopefully will try and get in the top 10 at least !........

That new Corsair Vengeance Pro also looks pretty nice :P

ddr3 2624mhz c11 beats 2480mhz c10 :)

Now lets see who can break 7 mins 59.......

Yes :(

Got xp sat waiting just going to order a 16gb sad then nlite it and I'll be back, though it can wait until I'm on paternity leave, see if I can change a nappy quicker then I can pi 32m :p

Just checked whyscotty's time :(
0.8s faster, i'll have to tighten my secondarys.

What sort of V is fine for putting through ram? I had to use 1.7v to get that to pass just shy of 2400 CL9.

Okay, enough fannying around from me now - time to get in on the action. Let's see what I can get out of this x-58 platform while I still have it :D

I think this old i7-930 should manage a pi run at 4Ghz (it's at 3.8Ghz now). Super pi says my current best time is 9 mins 52s. Surely I can beat that, even with a case full of dust!

Bite that pillow guys - I'm going in dry :p

Yeah that's fine, had my ripjaws at 1.725v and hyperx at 1.74v, though moar volts on the kingston didn't do much of anything. Sure the big fella said most scale well on air to 1.75v.

Just don't go nuts with sa & vtt.

Need to work my seconds on the ripjaws, see if I can get the command rate down
