8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Id love to get more out of my sammy greens, im never gonna win this wee contest. But it has been very interesting so far. I know sod all about ram clocking, but i might have to ask 8 pack about 2nd and 3rd timings after this thread is done and dusted. Ive learned a little so far, and ill have to give this a wee blast with my new cpu in. Im not expecting any major differences, but the new chip is in, and it has to be tested:)

Does this right on my first attempt? My memory is the Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 8GB at 2133MHz (11-11-11-27) timings with an i5-4670K :)

25.dlknight : 8m 42.239s - i5 2500k "Samsung" 1676Mhz 11-11-11-30-41

Thanks Tonester0011,

Memory information incorrect - should be -

2133MHz 10-11-11-26

Need to bring my TRFC down from 128 !! :) that must be what is killing my timing....

Got a 3570k waiting at the post office too ;) - just playing for fun now mind you.

Well

working on this from 8am

stuck around 8.10s not bad for samsung green :D

How big impact does hdd have ?? ATM i got XP running of my classic WD Raptor 36gb :D

HDD will have no impact mate.

SuperPI is purely about:

1. IPC & Clock speed. This has the most influence.
2. RAM speed & timings
3. Bus speed.

Damn.... Cant figure anything else.
Runing 2 cores striped windows to 113mb with disabled exploler and shiet :P
very tight timings as it is for 2200mhz memory. trc is at 88atm heh

I've been working on both mine for days... Doing my nut in now lol :). Interestingly my 920 and 760 both seem to max out on A bclk of 212, different ram but both 1600Mhz. Getting stable with a NB of 4K is pretty tricky (can't actually hit 4k on the 760, so not sure i can enter that result) best 920 result so far was just over 9 mins. Mid table action, ill post the result later if I can get the PC up and running again... QPI falls over once I get above 7.5k any suggestions on how I can stable that out?

Have managed to shave almost another 2 seconds off my best with i5 760.

This moves me up a place :)

This is running in Windows 8 by the way.

Lord ZED nice time for SB.

I had a go on a 2500K as well.
Got my RAM down to CAS 8 at 2200Mhz, IMC on the 2500K wouldn't go much above 2200 so I tightened timings as much as I could.

Nice! - I've been trying to get mine to pass Memtest at 10360 BCLK all afternoon but no amount of voltage tweaking will get it stable... Got it running at 10350 without error though.

Like you guys said the IMC doesn't like to go any quicker :|

update i broke 8 minutes 5 seconds after runing Super Pi all day changing every single timing i could change one after another and from start.

below 8 minutes seems impossible with my setup :D

well after 10s i started messing with timings again from top to bottom. And got few down by 1

took out my wd raptor out and connected other drives. So maybe if i will be bothered i will run 4ghz for overclockers.net ^^

Nice time, but this chip is an absolute dog. Quite gutted actually... Fastest it will go stable is 4.2Ghz, and needs over 1.3v to get that. 600Mhz less than what some people are getting.

I've got some new memory coming, but I'm doubting whether this chip will be able to handle 2600Mhz+ speeds with it anyway.

Meh can get 3.8Ghz stable on uncore, just can't get 4Ghz stable. I do have a result @ 4Ghz but its on a standard wall paper.. Donk! I had a result on the first pass of 05.73 for awhile, now struggling to drop below 06.000.
All good fun, ill drop back onto the 760 later see what I can squeeze out of that :D

That's an unlucky chip you've ended up with Duff-man, surely it should be able to hit at least 4.4ghz? Have you tried adjusting the base clock ratio instead of upping the multiplier? I was considering a haswell system but if they clock this bad I might just stick with ivy.

It will do 4.4Ghz for pi 32m, and for games, but crashes in seconds in prime95, whatever the voltage. BCLK is quite limited (sub 105mhz really) on Haswell, but there is a gearing ratio you can set to 125 or 166mhz. I'll play with after I've finished messing around with my memory.

Most 4770k seem to be doing 4.4 to 4.6Ghz stable at 1.25v, with max stable speeds of 4.5 to 4.8Ghz. Mine is the worst performing one I've seen reported so far. Temperatures seem I line with what I'd expect for the voltage and clockspeed, but I just can't get stability at the high end :(

I think the 'uncore' might be the issue - it won't even post with that set to x40 (4Ghz), so it has to be left at stock.
