8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

try latest bios? some boards have memory oc profiles built in,i know gigabyte x87's do

I don't think there is a newer BIOS? I'm using a UD4H... I would definitely give it a try if there is though.

Sticks seem to need 1.72v to pass a pi32m run at stock timings (10-12-12-31 1T). 7.46 is the best I've managed to get from them so far.

Knew I never had a chance but fancied the top spot for AMD systems for the bragging rights/e-peen. There's more room in the timings yet NB/Memory clock won't go any higher or 32M fails. I'd like to crack sub 17 minutes but I don't think theres that much in it, maybe another 5 seconds getting the timings spot on and Wazza tweak

Nice time manlove. Out of interest, how far have you pushed the CPU-NB voltage? Your 955 being a C3 should make it a better clocker than my older C2. I can't get my system stable with the cpu much over 3.8 and NB over 2.5 without needing to run muchos voltage.

With what ever this wazza trick is plus tightened tRaS/tRC timings, I should manage to break my target 17m, only got a hair off 1s to make up.

Think I've got the cpu-nb @1.475v

What's your best time at the moment, assuming the 17m20s isn't your best.

Ram clock is the biggest holding me back at the moment.

17m 01s is my best now. Have to admit that your cpu-nb voltage is higher than i'd be comfortable with. Highest i've gone on mine is 1.35V with the cpu at 1.55V and the ram at 1.8V. My hyperX genesis will only just get up to 840. I'm finding it difficult to get the balance of FSB and multipliers. Keeping the cpu over 4GHz and under the 4040 threshold whilst getting a NB around 2800 and keeping the ram between 800-900 is impossible. I'm stuck using a 252 FSB giving me a 4040 on the cpu, 2772 on the nb and 840 on the ram.

Try sacrificing 1T command rate and see if that gives you more either on your nb clock or tighter timings again. Tertiary timings made a marked difference to my scores too.

Mine refuses to boot anything above what it is on the ram. I think it's imc rather than the ram as it's ocz platinum low voltage running @ 1.7v. I'll see if I can play with multipliers etc to hey a higher nb, it wouldn't boot @ 2900ish though. Which is the tertiary timing? This is my first time clocking ram and I've literally thrown the settings together blindly, with about 6 runs in a few hours between watching TV.

tRC and tRFC, or minimum RAS active time and row cycle time. I got these down surprisingly low compared to the SPD/XMP profiles for 1600. (managed 18T & 22T vs 27T & 36T) Does sound like you've got a poor IMC though, which is a shame. To be fair, not many deneb cores like to work much above a 2.8GHz NB anyway. My system is stable enough to manage runs on superpi but a single attempt to run cinebench results in a blue screen/reboot. To get better you really need a thuban like a 960T or 1090/1100T as they are easier to get stable around 3GHz+. (without needing such extreme cooling solutions)

For me ManLoveRulesOK is a winner. That score from old phenom is defo worth the top price !!!

Kei is beating me although he hasn't posted his Screenshot yet. Played with multipliers and got 2770mhz roughly on the nb while keeping the memory happy enough to boot, with a small sacrifice in court clock speed.

Bettered my 17m 12s but still not enough to beat Kei.

I'm stuck now. Memory won't go any higher than it is 7-9-7-20-22-1T @ 810mhz.

No amount of multi combos to give me a higher CPU-NB seem to work, they'll boot but SuperPi Errors quite early. It's throwing errors now on the settings used for my quickest time

I'll come back later and have another go with a fresh install, hopefully I can pull something out the bag

I've managed to break my target time of <17m. I'm now down to 16m 59s. Presently doing another run to see if i can weasel a bit more out of it. Timings are as low as can get them at 8-9-8-17-20-2T @ 840mhz.

I'll post a screenshot once this run finishes and i can boot back into 7.

EDIT:
Run 2 was a no go, back up to 17m 04s.

Not yet he hasn't, I've not given up yet. I might be able loosen up the cas to tighten the tras and trc, won't be able to get the memory or Northbridge as high as Kei though.

latest beta bios, worth a try I guess, you can always flash back, flash through the bios tho

Thanks wazza... :) I have now flashed to the new F6 beta BIOS. Seems to be a lot better with the memory. It will boot into windows at stock timings now. A quick run of pi 32m at the settings shadow_boxer used above yielded virtually the same time, so it looks like it might be working properly now. Will tinker later.

Another thing I noticed, and I don't know if this has anything to do with the BIOS update, but my CPU load temps seem to be reporting as a LOT higher. I tried a Prime95 load at 4.2Ghz with 1.26v. Previously this was giving me temperatures around ~80-85C, before crashing after a few minutes. Now the temperatures on all four cores are showing in the 95 to 100c range immediately, before crashing after a couple of minutes.

If temps are genuinely in this range then maybe I do have a CPU-heatsink contact or TIM issue. I don't have any isopropyl swabs left to clean the CPU, but I'll get more tomorrow and check what my contact is like. Don't have much AS5 left either, so I need to be careful!

Previously I thought my temps were representative of what was expected from the voltage. Now they seem wildly excessive...
