8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

Props to Nvidia for managing to make the 8800 series affordable to most peeps, although I do believe their real agenda behind these 320MB models is to shift as many G80 cores in prep for the G81/8900GTX release.

Hmmm, I've waited this long to see what R600 has to offer so I guess it won't harm to wait a while longer, especially since there arn't any great games out atm, also I expect the 8900GTX to be announced the moment R600 hits retail.

Enjoy!

YAY 320mb GTS tomoz for me. :D

I couldn't resist no more \0/

Just hope my PSU is up to the job, 520w GlobalWin SuperSilent with 28a on the 12v rail, handles my x1800 perfectly like so should do hopefully. :p

thats a good deal there gibbo, will one of these have better performance than two highly overclocked 7900GS? cause i might be tempted if it will offer better performance and save me these stupid errors with games not liking SLI

know if danger den maze 5 is compatible or will have adaptor in near future and how far they'll overclock on water?

Currently i have an HIS X1900XTX with a C2D E6300 @ 3.29Ghz. Will one of these justify an upgrade? Currently play BF2142 @ 14??x1??? res, cant remember what exactly and I will be running Test Drive Unlimited once it has come out. If so would anyone want my old 4month old 1900XTX :p

I am playing mostly 1680x1050 with a x1950 pro. Are one of these worth getting hold of?

Also how big are they compared to a x1950 pro? This would give me some idea if i needed to get a bigger case.

Thanks a lot

If the x1950pro is the same size as the x1950 XT, then it will fit no probs as the GTS's are the same size, it will totally decimate the x1950pro, they are faster than x1950 XTX's, so definately worth getting hold of. :D

How will this 320mb baby hold up against 1680x1050 resolutions, graphics maxed out with HDR + FSAA + AF?

nearly 9000 3dmark06 points, thats some power:)

What I wanna know is when will some coolers be released for the 8800 series, the stock cooler on the GTS is nasty. 70C is quite hot for a GPU!

Whats your definition of 'decimate'

Strange that a next gen card costing an extra £75-£100 should be faster than a x1950Pro :p

I'm interested to see some benches comparing an overclocked 320MB 8800GTS to a stock 640MB 8800GTS. I did some testing comparing a 256MB x1950Pro to a slower clocked 512MB x1950 Pro and strangely the 512MB card was faster?

ATI cards coming soon, possible nVidia refresh coming soon, tricky time to buy a VGA card, reminds me of when the X1800XT came out quite a lot of people snapped up them up only to see the quickest refresh product ever some 2 months later (x1900XT).

Buying a graphics card close to time of release has never been a good idea, I can see these 320MB GTS card being £150 quite quickly (well 2 months say!).

Always the same though, look at how fast the G80 prices dropped after release, look what happened when the x1900's came out, there was uproar on here as everyone was snapping them up then about 3x days after release they were put in the 'This Week Only' all those who bought on day of release were going off big style on here :D, every new graphics card price drops just after release, theres never a good time to buy as new cards are coming out all the time, every couple of months or so, it will totally destroy the x1950pro, its faster than the x1950 XTX, so i should think it will beat the pro with relative ease, ATi can't compete in Dx9 anymore, a single GTX beating 2x x1950 XTX's in Crossfire is proof of that, so they can't compete, not until they get their r600's out and we see how well they stack up against the G80's :)

Your paying for the extra, pay more, get more performance.

if the 320MB 8800GTS was £125-£150 pound it would 'destroy' a X1950 Pro, until then its just a better, more expensive card.

Its always easy to spend 'just a little bit' extra when choosing your pc components, but also by choosing wisely you can shave quite a whack off your total bill, all those extra £40, £75 etc really add up, however having said that for a gamer its always worth dumping a bit of spare changed into your Vga card, especially if you like to crank up the settings, play in widescreen, play the very latest games or god forbid like to do all of the above! :)

Hi there

It won't even break a sweat. :)

This 320MB version believe it or not is hardly any slower than the 640MB version.

In fact in some games and at lower resolutions the BFG 320MB is quicker than some reference 640MB cards.

I believe the 320MB GTS will handle the latest games even at 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 with relative ease. :)

1680x1050 should be fine. :p

It doesn't matter to me if the price drops to £150 next week, i am still getting a card that is an absolute steal of a price now at £199, x1950 XTX came out a few months ago for £328, here we have a card that is next gen, and beats it for only £199!!!, that is an absolute steal, look at how much x1900's/x1800's were when they came out, why would anyone care if they do drop to £150 when it makes no difference as they are an absolute steal of a price at £199 now as said, they are still getting an absolute bargain. :)

plus its a BFG, so better still :)

Edit: will one of these run on OCZ 520W PSU or not?
