plus its a BFG, so better still :)

Edit: will one of these run on OCZ 520W PSU or not?
Modstream? It should just about cope with it. You got 28A on the 12V with that PSU and the 8800 GTS requires 26A!

It doesn't matter to me if the price drops to £150 next week, i am still getting a card that is an absolute steal of a price now at £199, x1950 XTX came out a few months ago for £328, here we have a card that is next gen, and beats it for only £199!!!, that is an absolute steal, look at how much x1900's/x1800's were when they came out, why would anyone care if they do drop to £150 when it makes no difference as they are an absolute steal of a price at £199 now as said, they are still getting an absolute bargain. :)
Lol good stuff, hope u enjoy your upgrade from 256MB x1800xt to 320MB 8800GTS

Thanks, Its a 512mb x1800 XT im going from, so it is a drop in the memory, but seen as i only game at 1280x1024 then even 320mb should cope with that fine, last Nvidia card i had was the GF4 Ti4600, man that was a while ago. :D

I'm downgrading on the RAM too. But as the only real factor is resolution and I game on a 19" it won't make much of a difference for me either.

I've never owned a nVidia card in my life! What are the drivers like?

Last driver i used to swear by i think were called the 4.09's or was it the 4.07's i forget lol, aint got a clue what they like now though so ill be lost with trying to get the best settings for best IQ etc... :D

A thought occured to me, on a few games (Doom 3 springs to mind) it mentions that you require 512MB for "ULTRA" quality, how the heck would this card cope with that?

its common knowledge and it say in the game.

Don't question this card.

For 199inc its awsome a different level compared to the old DX 9 stuff.
It will blow you all away!

Well, either way I am going to order it I must admit. It seems the best value for money card out at the moment. Hopefully it will run Quake 4 and everything else at high FPS at 1680x1050.

BTW easy, do you think it will make mince meat of upcoming Quake Wars?

yeah will be fine for that res. :D

Gotta love NV at the moment its has all the ATI fanboys dropping their cards like flies! :p

And to be honest I don't blame them :p

Welcome to the way its meant to be played! :D

I admit, I like both companies equally (I probablly prefer the driver layout for Nvidia though, by a TINY bit).

But have used quite a list of cards:

ATI RAGE Pro Turbo
Voodoo 2
Voodoo 3
GF MX2
GF MX4
GF 5700 (think it was gt or something)
9800 Pro
X800 XT
Currently a 6200 Turbo Cache (will waiting to get the 8800 card)

I remember when I was holding out for for a price/performance card and quickly snapped up a 7900 GTO for £170. With the 8800 320MB at £199, it just goes to show a bargain will always come along.

Judging the right time in the market to bite the bullet and sell your current graphics card to subsidise the price is almost a fine art.

Of course, if you have more than one machine, this needn't apply. ;)
