People who know they can get a top end DX9 card for £130 (like a 7900gto/gtx /x1900xtx ect) from mates or auction sites and would already overspending their budget due to my advice

I know my mates would they would rather get a load of kewl silent fans, cold cathodes ect with that £40 (if they were to spend it). I guess what I am trying to say is they would notice those differences but at the res they play they would NEVER tell the difference between 8800gts 320/640

Though of course the cheaper the card the better

Gibbo you're a tease, come on - its 6 days till launch, didnt you have the e4300s available for pre-order 6days before launch? Im climbing the walls waiting to pre-order, put me out my misery. It better be priced well! since its £240 for a 640mb on other websites

Well thats my x1800xt refeund through.....after 15months and a full refund :rolleyes:

god I'm glad I bought it from there, anyways Gibbo I now have £389.96 as PC fundage

Get that GTS at a great price and I will have no doubts but to give in to the offer

Oh is it gonna be a BFG lifetime warranty thing too

Me seen as i only game at 1280x1024, the 320mb will do me fine at that res, will decimate my x1800 in every way, and for the price will be a bargain (if they are around £200 of course).

Any ideas if next gen games (like Crysis, Alan Wake, UT3, etc) will require more than 320MB to get the best texture quality (like Doom 3 currently does). If they do then you may want the extra memory regardless of screen resolution.

most likely theyll have that option, but its more than likely not to really make a visible difference to lower resolution users, who dont have big screens.

Ill be more than happy having HIGH settings, because theyll look GORGEOUS, ultra obviously will look better, but ill be content at high

40 more gets you double the ram. :confused:

All new games will benefit from more ram in DX 10 with bigger textures etc..

Why does everyone say 256mb cards are fine for this res then, the GTS has 320mb, unless its different. :confused:

Is im tempted thats all, not im actually getting a one, x1800 is still doing me fine for now, so i don't really need to ugrade yet.

DX 10 will require more ram imo

hm, im not really bothered about Dx10 tbh, be a year at least before i even look at Vista, so ill not be using Dx10 till then, by then the bugs may be ironed out, it'll have better driver support, and run better, also it should have a SP or 2x, i certainly wouldn't get it now (Vista), plus theres no Vista drivers fot the 8 series yet anyway, and they've been on 5 years with them already.

seriously doubt theyll require more ram, they may make use of it. But some of us will be content without them. Iv got a x800xtpe, and i think the textures are pretty damn nice on some games with it. Ill be more than happy with having 320mb.

You can always throw another one in SLI later on if you find the memory lacking....2 of these in SLI should significantly outperform a 8800GTX.
